Weird graphical artifacts around cockpit at night on AMD RX 9000 Series GPUs

I am playing games that use the UE5 engine and they don’t have that problem per se.

Right, that’s why it looks like a very isolated issue. i.e a programming bug..

Also experiencing this bug with artifacts at night

Radeon RX 9070 XT
Ryzen 7 9800x3d

but really annoying for such an immersive game… don’t wanna spend $1000 just to get another overpriced Nvidia card to make it work. Yet Asobo and AMD is very silent on the issue

Weird, niche little issues like this are one reason why I continue to buy Nvidia. It’s not the first time something like this has happened, and probably won’t be the last. Yes, you may get reamed at the checkout, but at least it works. And in winter I don’t need to turn on the heating.

I just tried my Linux build and that works fine (Latest Mesa and CachyOs Proton), no artifacts at night and also fixed my FSR upscaling issue in SU3.

So… It’s 100% driver related.

That reads like it’s up to AMD to resolve.

I think we should all go and testify on @kubajs2011’s ticket that he opened at AMD to give it some weight:

R7 9800X3D, DDR5-6000 64GB (32G*2), and RX 9070XT

I experience strange graphical artifacts—like pixelation or mosaic patterns—when flying the inibuilds A350 and using the inibuilds YBBN airport at night.

That’s still quite a leap to suggest it has to be an AMD issue since the problem doesn’t occur with Linux. It very well might be that Asobo got their Linux code right but still missed something in their Windows code. Rememer, it worked fine in SU1.

What’s most frustrating is Asobo still not coming out to confirm the issue even exists and determine the exact cause. The onus is still upon them to do so. Until they do, how could we expect AMD to resolve it with a driver update?

Simple. AMD staff try MSFS themselves.

There is no linux version of MSFS20 or 24. Since SU1 lots of core stuff has changed, including lighting.

Im 98,0% sure it’s a driver issue. With a bit left for Windows itself.

Anyway, we probably wont hear anything until the issue is fixed.

Also remember that it is only a issue with 9000 series. And it is highly likely that some bug slipped in for this series in the driver.

Do you have the same issue if you follow the OP’s steps to reproduce it?

Provide extra information to complete the original description of the issue:

If relevant, provide additional screenshots/video:

I have been pulling my hair out all morning trying to figure out why this was happening, just to finally stumble on this bug report. I upgraded my secondary PC (for when I am away from home) from its old 1660 Ti to an RX 9060 XT 16, and while the performance gain is huge, I am afraid it’s almost impossible to play MSFS 24 on this system because of this. Disappointing does not begin to describe this. Any aircraft surface that has light shining on it (like the flashlight shining along the fuselage) causes these massively distracting blocky artifacts to appear.

• Yes

Provide extra information to complete the original description of the issue:
• I am using an RX 9060 XT 16GB on my secondary PC and have noticed this same issue which only started to occur after switching to AMD on this secondary system.

If relevant, provide additional screenshots/video:
• Same as media already posted by others

There will be a developer stream on July 23rd.

If we want more attention on this bug, we should ask questions about when it will be fixed or something similar.

Here’s the link where you can submit a question (or more):

Thanks for the notification. I have just asked the question on when the bug will be resolved. Let’s hope if enough of us ask it gets looked at.

Bug still present at night in beta su3 1.5.15

I’m seeing the same issue. AMD 9070 XT

You should also post on the AMD forum and vote if you haven’t already done so…
