Weird graphical artifacts around cockpit at night on AMD RX 9000 Series GPUs

Issue not fixed yet. SU4 BETA 1.16.10.0 16 Oct 2025.

Glow balls seen at wing tips

Hi,

I observed that my Fenix A319 has some strange “black patterns / lines” in night time and also the resolution of the model is bad. During daytime all is fine.

Any ideas? Im on an AMD graphics card …

Greetings

This is an issue with the latest AMD 9000 series graphics cards and the issue was planned to be fixed in SU4 but has been delayed to SU5 so we will have to wait even longer for it to be fixed.

Sim Update 5 won’t be released this year. Hopefully this fix will be available in the beta before 2026!

Do you have the same issue if you follow the OP’s steps to reproduce it?

Provide extra information to complete the original description of the issue:

If relevant, provide additional screenshots/video:
•same problem

The best thing we can do now to maybe let them look a bit faster at this problem is to “vote“ this topic if you haven’t done so

Hello,

same problem with Rog Xbox Ally X (almost buyed to play flight simulator on the move…).

Do you have the same issue if you follow the OP’s steps to reproduce it?
•YES

Provide extra information to complete the original description of the issue:
•it occurs with fenix and pmdg777 i got only these two Planes

If relevant, provide additional screenshots/video:
•the same issue as usual for other users with the RX9070XT

It’s a bit disappointing that such a bug hasn’t been fixed to date, and even worse that it’s been pushed back to SU5.

Recently, I installed very old drivers dating back more than a year, the first ones that supported the 9070xt and the artifact problem was still there. Which would confirm that the problem is on the msfs side…

I know we shouldnt have to do this to make the sim flyable at night but if you max the render scaling to max it limits the artifacts showing but does have a impact on performance

I can confirm this. So anyone playing in 4K should see less artifacts too?

yeah it looks that way

I personally think it’s ridiculous that the fix is now scheduled for 2026.

New 9070xt owner here. Confirming this is still an issue.

ISSUE DESCRIPTION

Description of the issue:

Still having issues as many others reported- 0 communication on the fix which is clearly Asobo side since the issue started with SU2. At night, when turning on cockpit lighting in ANY aircraft (1st party or 3rd party) i am seeing jagged edges and random dark square artifacts popping up. It is distracting.

Fully agree, Microsoft need to fix their stuff. It’s not like this bug is present since launch, delaying the fix to SU5 is ridiculous.

SU5, not SU6, see item 37:

Does the Rog Xbox Ally only use Windows? It should be fine on a Linux OS, so if you can switch or install that give it a try. Windows is still far behind on optimisation on handhelds.

But it’s planned, not set in stone. I have a feeling SU4 being stalled on purpose to PS5 release and we are the ones still having problems for almost 7 months now and just have to deal with it. This should have gotten a much higher priority.
