Has anyone noticed a weird set of very tall buildings in Barcelona? They must be about 300 feet high, near the port district of the city. I tried to manual cache the city and they appeared, but not sure if they were there before. Anyone else noticed them?
Happening all around the world, known issue. Even some local TV station reported it.
The height of autogenerated buildings uses the number of floors from OpenStreetMap. A guy from work had me fly to his small town to see if the building was there where he accidentally entered 22 instead of 2 when contributing to OSM.
And was it?
It was, although he swears he’s corrected this months ago. Sorry, that wasn’t supposed to be a cliffhanger.
He didn’t tell me this before I went, that’s why I don’t have a good screenshot, but if you look in the upper right:
It’s a good thing I don’t have issues with self control, because I just developed an urge to make one of my local buildings 5,000,000,000 stories tall.
I don’t know of other cases but I’ve been following this one (Barcelona) and these buildings in particular have been popping in and out over different builds. So it’s definitely a programming issue and a regression in its current state.
Interesting thanks. Thought it might have been something to do with my attempt to manual cache
Yeah I flew into Barcelona earlier this week and saw them. Not being familiar with the city I thought briefly that they may be real, and there to keep pilots on their toes
You said your buddy corrected the wrong number of stories months ago - maybe M$ knew what will happen when people find out about that trick. The number of insane high buildings will explode so they use an old copy of the database.
