Welcome New Simmers - demonstrating flying basics and intro to career mode. Monday, Dec 22

With all the new simmers that have joined us lately, there have been a lot of really good questions about the basics of flying. If you’ve ever wondered why it’s not always easy control an airplane with precision, why the plane oscillates back and forth, and why you’re always holding pressure on the stick to keep it level, tonight’s stream will be dedicated to helping answer some of those questions. This is for pilots that are new to simming as well as those who want a refresher.

We will start with a recap of aerodynamics and stability demonstrations. In addition to climbs and descents we covered previously, we’ll also cover some basic turns and use of trim. Then I’ll demonstrate how to control the aircraft to maintain specific headings, altitudes, and speeds.

It’s been a while since I’ve dipped my toes into career mode, so for the second part of the stream I’ll demonstrate that using a simple plane for a simple, short flight - this will involve interacting with the flight planner to determine route, altitude, groundspeed, and fuel consumption.

We will look at various ways to ensure the weather will be suitable for the flight and how to use that information to understand how the airplane will perform.

We’ll also demonstrate how to check the airports we are using to make sure they’re suitable for the flight.

Stream starts at 8:45et/5:45pt/0145z

Demonstrating aerodynamic basics live using MSFS 2024. Dedicated to all the new simmers joining but appropriate for anyone who wants a refresher. Fly along in-stream using the US West server.
