Sometimes the ground stays dry even while still raining, I hate it
How did you get this cockpit so awesome looking with such a uniqué colour tone and slightly oversaturated colours?
Is it an ENB for ReShade or another shader you have running there?
Ground dries up too quickly in live weather. As soon as the rain stops, the ground is dry again.
Today I landed in a heavy rain shower. By the time I had parked - less than 5 mins later, the ground was bone dry. So unrealistic. I have searched for this as an existing bug, can’t find anything. If there is one, please feel free to merge.
EHRD but it is a worldwide issue.
I also searched in the Bug section but did not find any, just this request in the wishlist. I also hope it will be improved to provide a more realistic environment.
There is a similar topic in the General Discussion that is closed due to inactivity.
Yes, I posted this in the bug section but the forum moderator deemed it to not be a bug, rather a wishlist item, so moved the post. I would still say it is a bug, as the ground should not dry up instantly, but I am hopeful that in 2024 we will see this issue resolved.
This has been my concern since 2024 was announced…. That corrections are no longer on the table for 2020. “Want it fixed? Buy the new release.”
I understand that new features (such as career mode or ‘missions’) that were never intended to be a part of 2020 require a new version but I see a future where things that should have worked in 2020 (but don’t) are now swept under the rug at Asobo’s office.
I am happy to buy the ‘latest and greatest’ to get new features. I trade in my old car for a new one because it has cool exterior cameras and better safety. And those 20 inch alloy rims look awesome. But I’d be disappointed if the manufacturer is selling a car that has now has wipers that work in the rain and a spare tire that now has air in it.
MSFS2020 has been a big step forward. But it does have a few things that we all expected to be working from day 1. (I’m looking at you AI and ATC). If we have to buy the new release to get these, my faith in MSFS will be degraded. But so far, updates are still coming regularly and I remain hopeful that several expected issues will be taken care of.
This is one of the issues i would not purchase FS2024 if not fixed.
Having dry runways and taxiways during light rain or after rain is so unreaslistic, please fix this Asobo, surely it cant be difficult
I wonder if the challenge that Asobo is facing is how resource-intensive this type of stuff is. I doubt most MSFS users have cutting-edge hardware that could realize the beauty of this without stuttering. Ever since FSX ,I think we’ve struggled to get a handle of what combination of hardware + graphics settings is needed to run Flight Sim to its fullest potential without needing to run exhaustive tests.
With that said I have upvoted this and I hope in FS24 there is more thorough application of an environmental effects engine that is responding to environmental factors like humidity to visualize what it is like for any aircraft to move through the air.
In that case, why when using custom weather and going from rainy, to say, scattered clouds, does the ground stay wet. This is simply a bug within live weather. The sim is capable of doing it (keeping the ground wet after it has stopped raining) and I’ve never seen or heard of anyone saying “wet ground causes stuttering on my PC”.
It doesn’t. Within a little over a minute it’s bone dry again.
EDIT: I made a little video showing the process in real time and at 10x speed. Once the rain is gone the ground stays completely wet for about 40 seconds, only to dry up completely within the next 40 seconds or so, adding up to a grand total of about 80 seconds of wet(ish) ground after the rain stops.
Ah - thanks for doing that. I am sure it never used to dry up that quickly but I’m clearly wrong so sorry about that. Look how great it looks when the ground is wet but the rain has moved on. So realistic. Not an important feature I guess though for the devs sadly. Thanks again for the video.
The video looks like Asobo only needs to change a value in the cfg to make it dry less quickly.. ![]()
It seems like a easy fix for Asobo to implement
Make the water dry on the ground and on the surfaces more slowly or based on the surrounding temperature creating natural drying times… I have votate
I’d rather have Snow, Ice and 70mph drifts on/across the RWYs lol.
So after 4 years of developing an evolution of msfs2020…surprise! This is still an issue in fs24 ![]()
And snow is even worse, no taxiway or runway is getting any snow on it
Yet another long-unresolved issue from Asobo that I’m encountering today. Utterly disappointing. They are utterly mistaken if they think this kind of dev behavior is going to encourage users to buy MSFS2024, especially after the debacle of SU16.
Lets see what MSFS2028 will bring ![]()
My guess, it will be exactly the same !
Still going on in SU5 in 2026.
