It’s… it’s great! The flight model seems spot-on. It no longer climbs like a rocket ship, but more like it should. It handles like a dream, and is relatively stable even in heavy turbulence. Even the FBW mod wasn’t this good the last time I flew it. Good job, Asobo, we’ve got ourselves a sim!
I have posted a bug for it actually because I cannot get it to climb beyond 30k. ATC wanted me at 35k and I couldn’t get there using the AP. It just won’t climb any further, I have noticed a better cruise speed and climb speed (knots wise) but it just keeps level at 30k or so for me
Huh that’s strange. I’m currently cruising over Texas at FL350 as we speak. The climb slowed to about 500fpm at the higher altitudes but it never stopped climbing.
Were you controlling the speed and climb or was the AP doing it all? With me I had the AP controlling everything. It was climbing at a speed of around 320 knots, when I took control and slowed it down a little it started climbing better but not for long.
It took me about 10 mins to get from 25k to 27k, When it eventually got to 31k it just stopped climbing altogether.
My previous flight with it after the update it was trying to get to 39k but I ended up reaching the descent waypoint before it got there. I tried taking over and managing the climb but that didn’t help either
Mine was managed everything, altitude and speed. I never touched it. It did take a while, but like I said it never stopped climbing. From my experience in other sims, the climb rate seemed about right for this plane, 12000 kg of fuel and 118 passengers.
Doublecheck you’re on the modern flight model.
Lost me now ? I had started a new game after installing the update before setting up the flight? Is that what you mean?
in your settings, double check the flight model is set to ‘modern’ and not one of the legacy settings.
In your general settings…
Check which flight model you have set. Legacy or Modern?
Ah yeah its set as Modern, I never changed that. Everything is as in your screenshot
I have the exact same problem. The plane struggles after 30,000.and can’t achieve much more. This is with a tail wind and 50% of max weight limit. Nothing helps
Oh I just thought, how heavy were you? If you were really heavy you may have to step-climb as the plane burns off fuel. That would be realistic.
Hmz, sure you didn’t have any flaps/slats/speedbrakes still extended? Maybe also worth checking your controllers. Maybe add a small deadzone (sometimes controllers can drift a bit, causing the AP to work against that).
I had everything set exactly as it was before the patch, I haven’t changed a thing unless of course the patch itself has changed the settings. I guess that’s possible
No flaps or speed brakes. I’m thinking maybe something to do with elevator control sensitivity setting. How should it be set?
I have everything except throttle at -50%, with a 5% deadzone. But I think that varies with controllers. I’m using an old Thrustmaster HotasX
Tailwind is not gonna do anything. Does not affect the climb performance in any way.
No, like I say everything was the same as before , no flaps, travelling at 320 knots which was faster than before the patch but just stopped climbing. Trying another quick test as we type
I am using a ch yoke. I’m sure they are all different
Mentioned tailwind to let people know I wasn’t facing a headwind.
