I did not want to fly on the shore of Africa, so this time I turned eastwards and flew about 1000km from
Thomas Sankara International Airport Ouagadougou (DFFD) to Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport (DNAA). The Albatross should have been able to cover the distance and I did check 100% fuel twice on the free flight window, however I did not notice that when it loaded the airplane only had 50% fuel. I’m not sure if it’s the game or the plane that has this error, but I encounter it quite regularly.
The moment of oops:
Well, to not break the immersion, I decided to land on Kainji airport (DNIX) which was about half way and seemed like I could make it there. I was just about right, I started left hand traffic to land with 9% fuel indicated, when the engine simply stopped. I tried to glide to the runway but didn’t make it.
So I had to “insert coin to continue” and made the rest of the flight uneventfuly
