Though both landings seem pretty smooth if you check the landing rating, but were both quite long landings, as I had to battle against the crosswind to keep it closer to the centerline. Honestly, neither of the two were anything near the centerline. Got to work on my rudder skills to get better crosswind landings.
I’ve been flying a lot this days, but I haven’t reported them. As I now have a little more time left (after my today’s flight crashed) I will start reporting.
(28/12/2023) Bali Depansar (WADD) to Kuala Lumpur (WMKK)
USEK to UHSI in the Shorts 330 I am thinking I should Hope down the Philippines after I go through Japan because I never really flown that area yet in any flight sims yet
I did forget a LOT, but I eventually got there. Landing was pretty bad, arrived leaning into the wind on touchdown, so left gears got the burnt of the landing force.
By chance I happened to see your post today. Coincidently, I too am doing a world tour, and my latest leg was flying from Bandar Abbass (OIKB) into Dubai (OIBK) just two days ago (1/2/24). We are passing each other, going in opposite directions. I am casually flying west to east in a TBM850, having started off in Santa Monica (KSMO) some 49 stops ago.
Enjoy your journey. It’s a great way to experience this big world.
I finished Adriatic countries bush-trip in TBM-930 in real weather: LDSP LQSA
Today it was finally less clouds to fly VFR and cross the mountains. But it was much more windy. At some places the ride was bumpy.
I just had one of (if not THE) best vatsim experience since I started flying on it. Lots of traffic, many ATC stations online, busy airports… it was a blast:
Vatsim map seem to have changed, it did not show my whole route after the flight, so Volanta map + Vatsim card instead:
Since half of the runway was more than enough, I was able to cut in front of the departure conga line and do an intersection takeoff from holding point D.
I managed to do an okay landing especially considering that an airliner got pretty close to my tail. I think he was about 2.5nm behind me, when I flew over the thresshold. I applied max brake, reversers and vacated the runway 25L really early, however I was so worked up to do well, that I accidentally turned quite a lot to the right instead of left, losing precious seconds on the runway. Still, I managed to clear away in time, so the airliner did not need to go around.
