What did I do in MSFS today? Loaded back into good ole FS2020 for some comfortable reliability. Today’s flight was a rather ambitious mid haul Rome - Dubai sector in the FBW A380X, a destination I’ve never operated into before with an aircraft I’m still learning.
Nearly 6 hours later, I’m parked at Inibuilds OMDB as EK98 after a fautless experience from gate to gate, with some beautiful hazy cinematics on final approach. Safe to say FS2020 will keep me entertained for a fair while longer!
Continued the World Tour from Benin, Nigeria to Malabo (FSGL) on the island of Bioko. The TBM 930 performed well despite a strong crosswind during most of the trip. Tried as I might, we just couldn’t get away from it. Using radio navigation the whole way, everything performed well, including the ILS descent.
ATC gave me a number to call when I hopped out of the plane on the taxiway just to take some pictures with the cows, however. Alas.
Overall it went a lot better than I expected based on the very first tries two days ago. I spent a good hour configuring my controls and that helped a lot. Also turning off energy saving features of my USB ports solved my disconnection-reconnection issues with the Honeycomb Bravo. However FS24 still hands out a completely diffrent registration number than what I have set in the sim.

I transitioned to nvidia app from the geforce experience and forgot to set recorded microphone, so all my narration was lost on the video
Took the PC-6 out around California, found some black bears, but they scurried off before I could snap a pic. Oh well! Got some of the plane. I think you might see one’s silhouette. MSFS 2020.
I took a few days off from flying as I said in my first post when flying MSFS 2024 I wanted to give things a few days before I made my first actual flight because I had a feeling that the game may have some in game issues and maybe bogged down the first few days. Let’s face it, nothing is more annoying than a game that boots you when you’re itching to play it.
With that being said, early this morning I set out on my first flight, it was a random flight I had no destination in mind I had my starting airport set. I was going to launch my plane into the sky and every so often change the path of my plane and see where I ended up after a while when I finally landed.
Looking on a map I guess I didn’t really change the course that my plane took that much as it seems more like a diagonal line, but that’s fine. Sometimes things like that happen.
Start: Billy Bishop Airport - Toronto Ontario
End - Frog Pond Airport - Arkansas
I’m ever so grateful that the nighttime got fixed in the game, I know in the 2020 edition when flying at night it was almost like flying with a blindfold on since you can’t see anything. Now it’s just a dark grey it showcases the night, but it doesn’t make it impossibly dark.
I know during my time with MSFS 2020 I posted a few nighttime photos that had me scratching my head because I couldn’t even tell what was in the photos.
Glad to have my first flight in, I plan on doing another one later today. The next one will also be another random flight.
So I felt inspired by a post here on the forum and experimented a bit. It is true - Microsoft Hiking Simulator 2020 is real! I just walked about 60 minutes through Santiago de Compostela without any lags, weirdness or technical troubles. It was quite meditative. I might do this everyday after work! Long-term goal - crossing Spain on foot and reaching Gibraltar. Sounds reasonable, right?
The icing affect is real…or different. I don’t know what’s real as I don’t really fly. Never been in a plane. But I can fly one!
I decided to fly a 172 in a snowstorm and I guess you really shouldn’t. It started great but felt like flying a cinder block soon after gaining elevation. After a while the AP could not keep me in the air anymore and I started to stall. Had to fly manually and barely could climb or even maintain elevation. Plane was bouncing and rolling all over the place. It was a struggle until I got past the mountains and was able to descend down to the lake where it wasn’t so bad. The weather was freakishly accurate as I flew over my house.
The child inside me told me to land at the airport so I could giggle at the name Eagle Butte
Although it appears to have the wrong airport code in the game the airport code is KEAB and I can’t find an airport with that code through my searches online.
Headed up to Idaho again for some bush flying in FS24 with the Kodiak. Got myself into some tight spots, but was able to avoid stalling completely and make it to the ground.
KLLJ Challis to C53 Lower Loon Creek to ID8 Marble Creek. Found a couple of surprises on the way and all in all, a fun afternoon.
