A goodbye to 2025 on a high note, flying the A340 from Nouvelle-Calédonie to Brisbane in MSFS 2024.

Standing at rainy La Tontouta couldn’t have been a better metaphor for a year’s end - let’s leave this dreary weather in the past and head for sunnier shores.

.

(On a funny note: If we’ve learned something from social media, it’s that the chance to be stalked by an Airbus is low, but not zero…)

.

Off we go!

.

I have to come back to this airport, as soon as the weather clears up a bit. The satellite and terrain imagery around here are stunning.

.

Some two hours later, it was time to plant the four-engined veteran back on terra firma. Gotta give it all for a last landing in 2025!

.

And oh my, this landing didn’t disappoint. Haven’t landed the A340 this nice in a while - all this practice so far (and the fair headwind) really paid off.

.

Plane says touchdown rate of 25fpm - one could think the main landing gear has been treated with a good helping of Kerrigold.

.

Everyone out, plane shut down, left behind clean like you’d like to meet it yourself. And with that, my 2025 Sim season has come to an end.

MSFS 2024 has come a long way this year and I’m so happy that with SU4, we’re finally at a point where I can truly say goodbye to MSFS 2020. Shoutout to all fellow beta testers and Xbox simmers (and to everyone else too, of course!) - I wish you all a happy and healthy new year with lots of opportunities and clear virtual skies. I’ll be off to work on a real flight soon and looking forward to all the 2026 Sim sessions.

.

See you on the other side.

I made an avatar of my wife and let her run around the wilds of Essex.

As night fell, she found a luxury mansion to seek shelter.
