What did you do in MSFS today? (Part 3)

That’s the fun of it. Where I live, great big storms are rare. We endure tons of wind and and lots of soaky gentle rain.

Continued from Pocatello, ID to Yellowstone by way of the Grand Tetons in the Taog’s Hangar 500C. A beautiful evening of exploration!

A leisurely jaunt around Townsville this afternoon in the Fokker VII. I departed from the Camp Engstrom Woolshed (YCSW) , a grass airstrip on the outskirts of the city:

Wandered past lake Ross, then followed the glidepath to YBTL, though I did not land:

Followed the shoreline past the Strand Park rock pool:

then headed over the bay to circumnavigate Magnetic Island and fly past Cape Cleveland lighthouse:

back along the shoreline, looking for dugongs in the Cleveland Bay - Magnetic Island Dugong Protection Area (didn’t see any):

which took me back to Townsville:

and hence to the airport for a landing on runway 19. With no brakes, you park when you finally roll to a stop, which for me was right here :slightly_smiling_face: :

[MSFS 2024 + WU21, live weather & time,]

Flew into Vaasa, Finland.

Another flight in the Fokker F.VII, this time to check out the photogrammetric scenery around Mildura. I started my sightseeing journey at Sunraysia Gliding Club (YMGF) . It’s another hot and dusty day in the Australian Outback:

Flying along San Mateo Avenue in Mildura. The photogrammetry here is pretty good. The team is getting better at hiding the blobby photogrametric trees under “real” trees, though trees planted along avenues are still quite noticable if flying low & slow:

Another shot of the town:

The fields outside of town:

After a brief stop at Mildura Airport (YMIA):

We takeoff and head south. Just south of Mildura is Sunset strip, You can land here, though it is not listed as an airport in MSFS:

We continue south following highway A79, which is really easy to see from 2,000 ft. Here, a farmer is busy ploughing his (or her) field:

Just shy of 90 NM is our destination - Hopetoun (YHPN):

Hopetown airport is just a small collection of huts with a 4,000 ft runway. I think that is a trainee pilot in the Cessna…

So why should you visit Hopetoun? Well there is the Lake Lascelles / Lake Coorong Reserve just out of town (you can walk there from the airport.

Plus, about 20 miles out of town, is the Hopping Mouse Hill Remote and Natural Area.

So, does the fauna in MSFS include hopping mice, and if you visit Hopping Mouse Hill , will you see any?
Sorry, my lips are sealed. :zipper_mouth_face: - you’ll just have to go there yourself and find out… :slightly_smiling_face:

Beautiful screenshots! It’s good to have the fokker back

Flying with some Pan-Am liveries I downloaded from flightsim.to!

One more Pan-Am photo!

I remember being so disappointed with the stratoliner in MSFS2020 that I returned/refunded it. Then I incidentally bought it again on MSFS 2024 with the aviator edition. Redgrave Redux’s mod gave it new life and I’m happily flying over Australia with functioning superchargers at 15,000 ft

2020, Santos Dumont, Rio de Janeiro to Brasilia…

KLAS - KPHX Fenix A320 MS2020

While doing a tour of Australia, I took the opportunity to fly into Port Moresley in Papa New Guinea AYPY tonight.

Nice approach past the mountains.

Continued my 48 states tour from Yellowstone to Denver, this time in the CRJ 550. I haven’t flown the CRJs in a while, and it was nice being back in the cockpit. You definitely have to remain attentive to this one!

Also, the default KDEN scenery needs help. Oof.

Got some blurriness and level issues all over the airport…

Flew the Blackbox BN2 Islander from Ovid NY (D82) to Elmira (KELM)

NASCAR flight ops today

Saw lots of nascar erj flights to their local airports today on flight radar 24, so I found a CRJ 700 flight and flew Elmira NY (KELM) to concord regional (KJQF) in the Aerosoft CRJ v2, flight time was 2 hours and 14 minutes, but I learned a lot of US sports teams fly the erj 145 more than the CRJ 700 :frowning: , (I really wish we had a default embrear erj 145 to fly, so I could fly new airlines and vip routes  ),

One more flight today on my Lower 48 tour: From Colorado Springs (Yes, not technically not my last airport of KDEN, but KDEN is so very messed up at the moment), down to KCNM, Cavern City Air Terminal, near Carlsbad Caverns National Park. This was a night flight in that strange bird, the Starship.

love me some vision jet flying!

Flew the 737 Max into Broome, Australia.

went into Broome recently, the airport looked good even as just a default airport. I was expecting more traffic however

Flew from Pilot Hill to Placerville, California, USA, in the versatile NX Cub, taking in beautiful views of the hilly terrain, rivers and canyons of NorCal (Northern California)
