A 2 3/4 hr flight from Lake Geneva to Southhampton Docks in the upgraded AAU4 Latecoere 631.
Moored on the south shore of the lake by the marinas at Les-Eaux-Vives The docks here are about 3 feet too high (or the water level too low):
Mistral towing me out for takeoff:
Up & away!
An ascending turn to the north, with Geneva behind us:
The weather was highly variable during the flight. Often I was in in zero-visibility clouds. This is one of the better periods at 11,000 ft:
A slow decent to Southampton Water:
The wind is coming from the west, so a crosswind landing, though at only 12 knots it should be fine:
Floats down…flaps down…
Hmm - the water mesh here is rather uneven, but one can land. Mistral had a hard time towing me into the harbor as there are many underwater mesh anomalies that cause it to think it has beached, so disengaging the tow.
In the end, I had to cheat & slew to my mooring in the harbor. The PG here is not particularly visually good for close-up viewing:

I’ll post some pics later, but I’ve been flying around in the Joby lately! It’s a fun little aircraft to fly
Random ATR 72 600 ops
Raleigh County (KBKW) to Rochester (KROC)
Realized i used to use the atr 42 600 more so I decided to practice with the 72 600
Getting reacquainted with the DC3 before I make my usual D-Day flight.
Did you notice many improvements in flight? I don’t think any modelling improvements were needed. She’s just beautiful.
I wish some billionaire would take on a replica project and build her for the public to visit irl.
No, but this was just a fun flight - I was not looking for issues or checking to see what may have changed in the AAU4 upgrade.
Flight from Kastrup to Glasgow, weather was iffy - not bad over the Firth of Forth, but a bit dodgy when landing at Glasgow
Tonight was- Auckland to wellington in the vision, then on to Queenstown in the CJ4. The weather was poor throughout both legs, but breaking out the clouds was nice as always and had a quick glimpse of a huge stadium on climb out.
What I wasn’t prepared for was the approach into Queenstown! Wow, really need your wits about you, a bit of a tricky one. I was to high so had to nose dive wee bit (sshhh no one saw it, so it didn’t happen!?) and landed smoothly. Looking forward to the departure out of Queenstown next
Had a go in a Partenavia. She’s analog with a G430 with a Millenium 11 AP (which I’ve never seen before, well that was the name stamped on it but internet not heard of it??) but works similarly to the one in the MU2. Hardly more Kts than a C172 despite 2 engines but stable and easy handling. Couldn’t try VOR’s as I was in the African bush.
Testing out the new Sovereign, Port Moresby in PNG to Cairns, Australia. Experienced a couple of quirks (for example, an overspeed at cruise with AT on), but discovered those were true to life. So far, so good. Absolutely loving the sounds, too!
Bizjets sure are shining right now in the sim…
Random GA ops today
AN2 from Rochester (KROC) to Williamson Sodus (KSDC)
Three notes on the AN2 the aircraft lacks the fuel for medium cargo 3hour flights , and is ment for light cargo rating based on career mode fuel range, and the landing capability is short, take off is short also
I agree, light cargo at best. It’s also far too slow for medium distances.
The ice cream would melt
2020, Big search today.
Alright, boys, break off to your search areas
A lot of water out here, good thing we have the planes
key that report to base, Sparks
A couple of bursts and the Rafe backed off
Didn’t have much CAP, so where are the planes - AND the cloud cover is burning off…

Busy day ahead for me so managed to fit a couple of legs into my world tour this morning as I left Tunisia behind for Italy.
First sighting of Italy in the distance
Landed safely at Trapani-Birgi (LICT)
Heading from Trapani-Birgin (LICT) for the short hop to Palermo (LICJ)
Landed at Palermo (LICJ). A lovely airport with some great views!
Took the Turbine Duke out for a spin across Pennsylvania and into DC. ATC may have asked me to call a number. Something about entering restricted airspace…
