Right after my r/l flying lesson where I am still “learning” the subtle technique of the perfect transition and flair, I came home to do some more touch and go landing practice in the sim,
Working on holding the nose up more. Note that on this measurement, pitch = 3 is the stance of the plane on the ground on all 3 wheels, so to ensure the mains hit first, pitch needs to be higher than 3. So pretty happy that I avoided any nose-first landings.
Of the 10 attempts.
5 “good”
2 “mediocre”
2 harder than ideal, but safe.
1 “hard” landing.
I, too, am LOVING these private jets more than the commercial ones. They fly higher and faster and look fantastic in flight. Citation is one of my favorites.
Today it was a flight from Newberry in Buenos Aires to Comodoro Rivadavia Airport, about 800 miles to the south.
Pretty much uneventful, the most challenging part was keeping my eyes open. I did need to wait until the mains were down to 80 galls a side, then pump 50 galls of fuel each into them from my ferry tank, or I probably would not have made it. It was looking very tight.
Descending from 24,000ft into cloud at 18,000ft, the widscreen was iced over all the way down to 6000ft, where I encountered rain showers. The outside temp even at low altitude is getting markedly chilly now.
Route taken so far through Argentina, The blue line is next weeks route, where I have decided to strike out for the Falklands and Port Stanley directly from Comodora. I estimate 600 miles across the South Atlantic. Then trip is over in just under 4 months.
Three different flights:
Air India A320Neo at VAAH
Air India A320Ceo on final approach for VABB
Air India A350-900 test flight with downtown Toronto in the background
Early evening flight from Edinburgh to Stockholm Arlanda in the default 737-Max. Edinburgh is absolutely amazing, Stockholm Arlanda is a default airport made by Orbx Indie developer Marcus Nyberg & Jetstream Designs for Microsoft, & is very nicely done
Flight went fine, it was really interesting how all the greens around Cape twon turned into the browns and the yellows of Namibia. Unfortunately the crosswinf compontent on landing was just a bit high for my skill, so I was really fighting against it and while I managed to put the airplane down gently enough I was so far from the centerline that there was a real danger of running off the tarmac. Not very pretty
