What did you do in MSFS today? (Part 3)

Playing with the Jenny… can’t seem to get it to do an aileron roll, it seems to stall halfway through.

Decent landing at KSNA (ignore the airliner crossing my path) but I forgot there’s like… no brakes? Took a while to stop on tarmac.

High altitude clouds looking very nice in 2024 SU4b today. I don’t remember seeing those kinds of formations before, but I approve. Rex Atmos Core only, with just Atmos, and Enviro, so those clouds are all Asobo’s work.

Decided to set off on a tour around Scotland in the Cub Crafter X Cub.

First started flying this in the in game Bush Trip of Finland, default aircraft, and….it’s not bad. Despite owning quite a few expensive payware Bush planes, this is growing on me. I use the realism mod with it.

First leg is quite short, Prestwick (EGPK) up to Oban (EGEO).

The one thing I like about this aircraft is that it doesn’t have a strut straight down the centre of the windscreen thus obstructing runway views. Its forward view is good.

Coming in a little high perhaps, but rather that than drop it in the pond….and it stops in a very short distance.

Next leg is up to Fort William and Ben Nevis from Oban. Weather forecast is poor though suggesting an early snow ….. switch out the Bijan packs.

This is a MSFS 2024 airliner mission on a 737 Max. Check out the table of contents in the description to jump to relevant parts of the video. A very immersive and addictive experience.

Flew in Bolivia from and to (Uyuni to La Paz) airports at ground altitudes of 12,000 feet! Because of such high altitude and thin air, the runways are extra long. The salt lakes don’t have the names. At least, I couldn’t find them on Google. It was an afternoon flight in real-weather that ended just as night fell. I got the flight plan from the weekly community flight, added some more waypoints over some points of interest (to me!). You can get that flight plan here [Official] Community Fly-In Friday: Bolivia - Community Content Hangar / Community Events - Microsoft Flight Simulator Forums

Taking a look at the Westland Lysander today, released a couple of weeks ago. Freeware on flightsim.to.

First impressions are that this is very nice. The standard of freeware has been steadily climbing.

Very pleased with the flight model. Nice and slow when banking.

Cold and Dark start is sufficiently comprehensive, including operational Cowl flaps.

(This is one of those aircraft where you start with the Mixture on Lean, advancing it quickly to Rich as the engine fires up).

Quite a delicate dance around trim v power in the approach. Left Aileron/ Rudder trim makes it a little easier to maintain a heading…no AP.

Got to brake very gently on landing….one landing ….. one face plant. 2nd landing ok….reduce flaps and back pressure on the stick.

The tail wheel doesn’t want to come down fully unless <35 mph

My only question : why do some Developers go to so much effort to put out a very nice aircraft and put out zero documentation to help you start it and fly it? Took a while but I got there in the end.

Documentation aside, a really nice aircraft…..and it is freeware.

2020, Iwakuni to Osan. First time flying anywhere in Korea in the sim. Thought it would be better worked on my FS, but it was cool. The Shrike F-86 fuel tanks can be unforgiving if handled wrong, so be sure to start with your outboard external tanks first, switch to the inboards, then let the internal tanks take over and you’re in like flint. All the controls were set-up as well.
