What does intercooler flaps on Milviz Corsair

Hi,

I would like to know what does intercooler flaps do on the temperatures of CHT or maybe Oil temp
Can someone help me?

Yves

Opening the flaps increases airflow over the cylinder heads so should directly lower CHT. Don’t think it will have a big effect on oil temperature.

The real Corsair manuals says:

CHT > cowl flaps
Oil temp > Oil cooler flaps
Carburetor temp > intercooler flaps

I think you’re getting mixed up with the cowl flaps. The intercooler flap/door is used to increase airflow to the intercooler, which cools the air from the supercharger before it is forced into the engine. So, it lowers the temperature of the air entering the cylinder heads, while the cowl flaps increase airflow over the outside of the engine.

And to add on to what EmergencyNICK wrote,
The intakes for the OIL and INTERCOOLER are located side-by-side on the wing roots.
The Oil Cooler intake is circular, and the Intercooler intake is rectangular… with vertical vanes.
