Good afternoon all, I have recently bought Microsoft flight Sim 2020 and have fallen in love with it. At the minute I am using a Thrustmaster joystick and throttle that’s to be fair not very good. What does everybody use. I have my eye on the honeycomb yoke and throttle and also pedals as I want to make my experience as life like as possible. I know all controllers are at the minute out of stock everywhere but id like to pre order when I can. Any help would be really appreciated.
I’m using my 15 year old X52pro, very happy.
If it breaks I may move over to the Thrustmaster T1600m and Throttle.
wow thanks for that.
VKB Gunfighter. VKB Gladiator.

I have the CH Eclipse Yoke, CH Throttle Quadrant, and CH Pro Pedals which are working really great.
I use the honeycomb yoke been quite happy with it.
use the Logitech throttle quad and rudder pedals also does the trick though I expect there are better out there at a higher cost, all comes down to budget.
Never had room for the Yoke, esp. now with Work From Home, but I am sold on the new Joysticks with magnetic inputs (i.e., Thrustmaster HEART), I managed to score an Airbus TCA last week, boy it makes handling so much easier compared to potentiometer based controllers. Now I can hold heading and alt once trimmed down literally with my fingertips.
Airbus and anything else is in real short supply, but I see resellers claiming they’re back in stock late Oct/early Nov, I would get on a list now. If you find something sooner, you can always give up your slot.
If you’re looking for something that uses less desk space, like I was, I bought the Thrustmaster HOTAS One (Four is the same, but meant for Playstation) and it works perfectly.
I bought T1600m and Throttle and it works great, but if you wait a couple of week look for Thrustmaster TCA Officer Pack Airbus Edition
Looking at these new magnetic joysticks to replace my Microsoft Sidewinder (circa 1998?). It has an adapter cable to convert the sound card DIN plug to USB lol. It flakes out routinely on me now, which could also be my now ancient tower.
But I also have the CH Yoke, and what I’ve found I like doing is using the joystick for primary flight controls, and then the CH yoke for throttle, mixture, and prop. And then I use the throttle wheel on the joystick for trim.
Is there a controller with (at least) four wheels? Or a compact throttle quadrant that feels decent? I’m a scenery gawking VFR gamer, not a srs bsns airline captain, so I was hoping to avoid something bulky with huge grips. Like a trackball sized peripheral with four wheels I can roll with my fingers would be awesome. Dragging out the CH Yoke AND the Sidewinder is a chore and keeps me from doing a lot of quick casual flights.
CH Fighterstick, CH Pro Throttle and CH Pro Pedals, since I use the Flight Simulator, the Digital Combat Simulator, Falcon BMS and Il2-BOS.
Really appreciate all the reply’s guys. Never really thought of the physical size either of the controller’s. My ideal yoke is the Honeycomb and I maybe will go for the cheaper Logitech throttle and no idea on pedals. Thanks.
would look screen shot of yoke setting if possible. Same unit but trouble mapping
Was just basic, but I think I read on the forum someplace that older ones are more of a pain and even need the CH calibration software. Mine didn’t just was easy.
I’m working on my collection of Virpil controllers.
One word, amazing! They are far above and beyond the quality level of any controller I have owned before.
Look for a guy named “TheNoobifyer1337” on YouTube. He does a lot of reviews / discussion of Virpil stuff.
SunDevilPilot
Yes, great controllers but…
Takes upwards of 2 months from order till they arrive
Some QC issues - can take weeks before spares and or replacement is sent
Which Thrustmaster equipment are you using? I have an old Cougar HOTAS, which I find very satisfactory. I’m also using a Saitek switch and radio panel, a Cessna trim wheel, and Saitek Combat Rudder pedals. In general, the more you can get away from using your keyboard, and using cockpit similar equipment instead, the better your experience will be. There is a lot available, your wallet is the limiting factor. No matter what you do, simulating is a lot cheaper than flying.
- Brunner CLS-E NG yoke
- Brunner CLS-E MK II rudder pedals
- Virtual Fly V3RNIO+ TPM
Approx 4000euro (6600aus)…hmmmm maybe not!
Protip for anyone using the CH yokes: buy some PTFE/Teflon dry lube and apply it to the shaft. Makes a massive difference in smoothness (without having to mess with replacing the springs with rubber bands) and won’t eventually mess up the electronics inside like graphite will. I’m actually okay with waiting on Honeycomb Alphas to come back in stock now.
This stuff in particular was what I used: https://blastercorp.com/product/dry-lube-with-teflon/
