What graphics settings do I need to change?

I am new to MSFS 2020 having finally got a PC that can handle it - I’m running an i5-13400F with a 12GB 5700GTX and 32GB of DDR5 RAM with the game installed on an M2 SSD.

I haven’t started to toy with graphics settings yet, and let MSFS recommend Ultra everything - which runs fine.

Some of the graphics issues, such as those below, are I understand a result of photogrammetry and nothing can be done to remedy them.

But others, such as this one, appear to point to an overly sharpened image - the trees in particular do not look natural. Similarly, when flying over water the water can look too sharp.

What settings should I start to look to review to affect these graphics issues please?

Not sure what this is. It seems like an un-holy marriage of an AMD RX 5700XT and an older nVidia GTX card

Make sure you have a good internet connection with good speeds, since all of those ground textures are loaded from the cloud.

If you fly in the same areas regularly, you can also turn on rolling cache so it already has areas cached with no need to access the servers.

I personally have cache turned off because it seems to run a bit smoother for me that way, buy your mileage may vary.

Haha, my bad - 6700XT!

I’ll definitely turn on the rolling cache. Thanks for that tip.

Any thoughts please on the last images and what’s wrong with the settings?

In general pick the highest default that gives you a reasonable frame rate of around 40-50fps. Then start tweaking. Personally I turn off a lot of the post processing filters because they are there only for the wow effect.
Aim for 100% TAA if you want to get a sharp iamge.

The sharpness may be coming from an AMD setting rather than the SIM. I think by default, sharpness is set at 80% in adrenaline.

The most important thing for a sharp image is rendering in the native resolution without any up- or downscaling. The rest like DLSS, sharpening filters etc. is just a trick. It looks OK on 3D objects but doesn’t work on text displayed on digital displays which is what you’re mostly looking at when flying modern airplanes.

If you are referring to your last image, there’s no graphic setting to fix the bridge. That is either poor source data and the AI created a very poor bridge, or the data on the server is there but isn’t making it to you. It is probably the former. You could share that location and have someone else check out the area to confirm.
