What is the "AUTO" setting when using DLSS in 40th Anniversary update

I know what DLAA is compared to DLSS. But what does the “AUTO” setting actually do? Right now I use “QUALITY” with DLSS.

“Title now supports new NVIDIA technologies such as DLSS3 (including Frame Generator) and Reflex on supported NVIDIA graphics cards on PC. We also added support for 2 DLSS modes Super Resolution: Auto and DLAA”

Yes, can someone please explain?

..or have you found an answer @heinzpilot ?

anyone figure out what the DLAA resolution of DLSS is?

I don’t know about the auto but liking DLSS + DLAA vs DLSS + Quality.
I somehow missed these additions in the SU11 beta test, and only just got round to playing with them.

If I had to guess, I’d say Auto probably is performance based and will switch to the best DLSS SR method to give best FPS, so if you want to trade off FPS vs some glitchiness you may want to go manual.
That’s typically how auto settings work, performance prioritised vs quality. Maybe it also switches on the fly if the rendering allows, unsure.

Would be nice to get a definitive explanation from the devs though.

dlss auto usually goes like this. 1080p they use dlss quality for auto, 1440p they use dlss balance or sometimes quality depending what you got for a gpu, 4k they use dlss performance for auto. if that makes sense.
