What is the difference between the .FLT and the .PLN files in MSFS 2020?

Hi there, What is the difference between the .FLT and the .PLN files? Any help is greatly appreciated. TIA

FLT files are for saving a flight in progress. PLN files are for saving your flight plan for future flights. It lets you start at the same Gate or Runway and sets up the GPS if that plane allows it, some don’t. I use PLN everyday. Never use FLT because it pretty unpredictable depending on plane used.
