What happened to the An2, i know theres some problems with licensing but i thought they already got it
Last time it was mentioned was in a recent dev Q&A livestream, where it was stated they’re still waiting on Antonov for licensing. Bear in mind it could take a while, they’ve got lots going on.
Well, an Ukrainian company and a Russian developer is certainly not an easy combination at the moment. So it is understandable that it’s difficult for Microsoft to get an agreement.
well, still licensing… i know this is standard answer… but considering it was planned to be released on March 1st, i dont believe it has licensing issues. remember the war started on February 24, and until February 23 they were planning to release it on March 1st, which shows that the license was ready. it was only a few days away from release, couldnt been without license lol. the only reason i can think is that MS/Asobo was reluctant to release a Soviet/Russian or Ukrainian plane at this time because they are worried about if people attacking them for making war money, thus damaging Microsoft’s image. if so, then i think thats overly conservative. release a Ukrainian plane at this time and donate all proceeds to Ukraine, isnt it a better way? you can help Ukrainians and give Asobo/MS a good reputation. if they did this i would definitely buy it, i would love to donate to Ukraine and i believe many people think the same way. well…anyway, this is just my speculation, no one knows why An2 hasnt been released. no offense intended.
This isn’t true - they’d already pushed the release back at least once at that point because of the licensing issue, which had been going a while. The issue has now been compounded by world events though, so taking even longer.
I’ve negotiated a LOT of licenses and contractual agreements in my professional career. You have no idea how complicated some of them can be. There is almost always a targeted close or execution date, sometimes weeks or months in advance, but they’re just target dates. Sometimes those details never do get worked out, or sometimes all the initial details get worked out and one party or another discovers additional info that has to be figured out, shared (or not) and negotiated around.
So a planned release date means nothing - it was just a target.
i wish that the " ANNA " came fast to us -.-
I saw an An-2 sitting on the runway at KSEZ for quite a long time as I flew around Sedona. It never took off or taxied.
It had a strange gamertag of something like “DEV 2” and a string of numbers/letters.
I can’t believe I’m turning into a plane spotter in the sim.
