As for gaming chairs, about 4 months ago I got a SecretLabs chair and have zero complaints.
Hi
You might wanna look at this video, mostly of the gaming chars are overpriced and sometimes is difficult to find something really good for the price.
I was about to post this very thing, get a sweet high end mesh office chair.
I got an AndaSeat Dark Knight about a year ago. Not cheap, but the it’s best thing I’ve done for my butt next to staying out of prison.
Although with 500k subs, I’m amazed that chair companies aren’t just coming out of the woodwork offering you free stuff to flash their brand.
and they have a collaboration with Boeing being revealed in the next few weeks.
I have the Herman Miller Aeron one since 13 years after I hurt my back once (price is still the same obviously), indeed it is very expensive but still, any more issue with my back which is healthy worth it but it comes to a price sure… Worth it when it is possible to afford it, otherwise I believe that there are less expensive chairs around that could do the job as well!
This chair is getting really good reviews https://monstertechusa.com/product/flight-chair-mfc-1/
I also am a full time streamer on youtube and I’m about to purchase the titan xl secret labs fabric version. All memory foam. I’ve heard nothing but good things. I have 45k subscribers… bit far behind you yet xD
Recaro.
Expensive but good
Just go and learn to fly a real plane then (or fight in a real war, or whatever other games you enjoy.)
I used to buy cheap, office chairs…every two or three years, because the fake leather used, would start to crack and flak off. I splurged about two years ago and bought the Titan XL from Secret labs. At first, I was like this isn’t that comfortable because they use a stiffer memory foam, so it’s not like some super plushy, soft experience. But after a few days, I realized why, because it offers a lot of support, over long sitting times. The cheaper chairs sort of bottom out over time and get uncomfortable…Not the Titan XL, that is for sure…Plus, after two years of daily use (I work from home and game in the same chair), it’s still looks almost new. No issues so far with long term durability…
Thats excellent news and further cements my original thought as I need support on the back more than anything. Thanks for your reply.

Does anyone know what the components are on this rig?
I could build a frame myself, what is the seat and rudder pedals and yoke?
pedals looks to be - Thrustmaster TPR Pendular Rudder Pedals - MyPilotStore.com
Seems all are Thrustmaster - Thrustmaster Hotas Warthog PC - MyPilotStore.com
My flight sim location is not dedicated to flight sim or gaming. Its my home office. Although I have never worked full time out of it.
So the chair is a very generic office chair.
While I am sure there are worse options it could be better.
I’m also looking at making a move whiten the information technology field to be able to work remote so I don’t have to tie my career to my location.
This is a long way of saying. If anyone has some good recommendation for office chairs that are suitable for Flight Sim and will help support my 40+ year back. Id love to know what they are.
The Islander and JF PA28 are so good that I am thinking of changing my chair for a commode.
Since the start of MSFS 2020, I played this simulation game on and of behind my computer table (actually a dinner table), sitting on a simple dining chair. Found it fun to play, until I discovered VR two weeks ago; now I’m addicted to the simulator, comfortably sitting in the cockpit flying a Spitfire in Normandy, a Cub over the German islands or a Cessna in the alps. This 3D-flying is amazing, so absolutely close to real flying. I find it simply the best, and there’s no need for extra screens or other hardware. Just a VR headset and a flight stick + throttle, and of you go, into the sky.
Especially for VR, I went a step further and since my wife and I try to live minimalistic, I found myself in my little German town a wooden fifties lounge chair for free, perfectly suited for my needs: it’s comfortable, not too big and it has (most important for my goal) straight armrests. I took an old wooden shelf, sawed it to seize and mounted my fly stick and throttle on it, leaving space for the mouse, which is needed to switch the controls in the cockpit. At the bottom side of the shelf I a glued some rubber pads to make my flight deck anti-slip on the straight armrests. It’s rock-solid now. For the VR controls, which you only need at the start of the game, I screwed in two plastic-covered pins at the sides of the shelf. That’s all, now I have my own custom VR gaming chair. And the best thing for me is, it did not cost anything, no spoiled resources, just a couple of hours of work.
When I want to fly, I slide the chair a little towards my computer table, so I’m able to plug in the USB controls and I can reach the keyboard. From then everything during my VR flight is controlled out of my comfortable shabby chic chair, which has even space for a coffee or a beer. For the VR headset, I use Virtual Desktop along with MSFS, so I don’t need a link cable. I find this more comfortable and besides that, VD I found, is hassle-free, which I can’t say when using a link cable.
On the pictures my wife fully concentrated flying over Holland in our game seat in the dining room, which has by the way another benefit; with this seat flying VR, you don’t need a separate man’s cave with full bells and whistles simulator setup. This chair simply fits in our home decoration. And the custom flight-deck-on-a-shelf is easily stored in a closet when not in use.
Hopefully, I gave somebody an idea of how to arrange something minimalistic for your simulated VR flying experience, which is both comfortable and fully applicable. And also environmentally friendly by using items already available. Happy flying
Some others showed their Secret Labs Titan. I’ve had it for about a year and love it. As a developer WFH, this is not only for gaming but also for work. I can spend 8 to 10 hrs in it and not an ache.
Aeron Chairs are the best office chairs and a great compromise. Very comfortable and airy.

Thank you for taking the time to write this. I stream full time and game at the same desk so for my day stuff and night stuff this is gna be comfy! Getting the grey fabric titan xl. This will fit comfortably for those long flights in vr with the airbus which is my go to plane.
