I’ve recently started to build my Windows PC-based MSFS 2020 system. I have a small, narrow computer desk and the monitor, throttle and joystick are on there. However, I want to place the joystick much lower down, just at the end of my chair’s left armrest as it’s too high on the desk for my liking.
A bracket on the desk won’t do as it’ll be too far away from where I need the joystick, and I don’t want to attach anything to the armrest of my chair as it’s rather flimsy and wobbles about too much.
A 60cm high speaker stand might do the job. Has anyone tried a speaker stand and, if so, did it work well?
My joystick is a T.16000M so it’s a bit big and heavy for the lap.
Here I made an L-shaped wooden bracket, screwed under the table. The bracket rotates so I can hide it under the table when I’m not flying. But my table is not that high.
I believe you can build (or have someone make it for you) something with wood (placed on the floor if you really can’t use the table).
Walmart sells these plastic and aluminum foldable tables they call them laptop stands, they’re under $20 us each, and you can take a saw to the top of them and narrow them down with out doing any damage to the structure of them. You can move them up and down and the top has a 3 postion swivel as well. They’re just a little bit flimsy, but so far they have worked just fine for FS Arma and a couple of other games.
I picked up one of those small, cheap folding end tables (I think it was like 20 bucks) and put velcro on the top of it - and then again on the bottom of my HOTAS setup… Its worked like a charm for me.
