Hi there, What VR headsets that don’t require Facebook accounts? Any help is greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance…I have heard stories that you can get banned from Facebook. I have been thinking that if i make a mistake on face book, then I lose 300.00 for an Oculus Quest 2.
HP Reverb G2
Thanks for replying, are there any others that are on the market?
Every single one except Oculus
Ok, Thanks for the help and info guys.
you only get banned unless you commit a thought crime. If you aren’t sure what a thought crime is, read ‘1984.’
Ordered my HP G2 Dec 8th, it just shipped!
Where did you order from?
I’ll gladly pay $300 (I don’t have a need for the extra memory) for a pair of reasonably decent VR goggles subsidized by Facebook in exchange for an e-mail address that is of little use and my list of 10 “friends.”
Amazon tracking says mine will be here tomorrow.
Yeah, I think I’ll go with the Oculus Quest 2 , I just haven’t used Facebook in a while and never really used it very much and haven’t ever been in trouble with Facebook in all the years that I have used it.
When I order for the Quest 2 and when ever it is shipped ,what steps do I need to do to get it setup on Facebook?
what mistake would you make? lie about your age or who you are?\
wouldn’t that affect your reverb g2 warranty if you tried to claim a repair if you wanted to remain anonymous?
the ones who have been band were using fake accounts and had been reprimanded for bullying and iliicit behaviour
for lower spec pc’s quest 2 is better as the oculus reprojection (asw) implementations are far superior to steam and wmr implementations…
I’m puzzled .
What has a FB acount to do with buying a VR headset? Are they offering some special discount or am I missing something here?
The discount is: opening wide open the door of your house so that everyone can see your life habits
Or you just want to share your passion for art and publish a screenshot of the painting “L’Origine du Monde” (I’ll let you find this one online)
Oculus are owned by Facebook, it’s their way of integrating the Social Network directly into VR by making a disclaimer that you must have a FB Account to Own an Oculus. Needless to say this hasn’t gone down too well.
Everyone is more than welcome . I’ll make sure there is beer, soda, music and other entertainment. But that still doesn’t answer my question.
I think @MarcG888 has already answered this pretty well but here’s my 2 cent.
Facebook see’s the social media in VR as a way of making the platform mainstream - Mark Zuckerberg said himself he wanted 1 billion people in VR. From the beginning Oculus partnered with FB to show social contacts in the Oculus Home if you linked your Oculus account to FB, this was way before Facebook aquired Oculus.
So you can see from Facebook’s perspective not having a Facebook account rather makes that difficult. Therefore it has absolutely nothing to do with VR but everything to do with Facebook’s ambition in the social media space and VR is being used in that process to expand FB media interests and collective presence.
I do think @CptLucky8 is spot on, you probably benefit from a discounted product as well (Oculus Quest 2) that might still be too high a price to pay; for some people anyway. Personally I would be ok using my FB account as I have my Oculus account already linked up, but right now I only use the HP Reverb G2.
BH PHOTO, they’re located in New York and have done business with them for decades.
My Quest 2’s got here about 2 hours ago. The set I tried (I had a friend with a pair) had the USB 3 link cable. It looked really nice.
I thought I had a spare USB 3 c cable laying around so I didn’t bother ordering a new cable. But it turned out to be just a USB 2 c cable. Well, it linked up ok but because of the limited bandwidth I can only do 72 hz refresh and limited resolution. I have a proper cable on the way.
I went ahead and tortured myself for an hour or so flying around at that low refresh rate. It SUCKED, but I know what it can look like with a good link so I figured I might as well goof off.
Still, It is absolutely amazing the view. It feels like you’re sitting in a real airplane. The panels look so much nicer in 3d over 2d. It’ll pull you in so bad you’ll try to set stuff down on the empty passenger seat. I dropped my mouse (to the carpet) because my eyes were telling me it was a real seat there!
i once stood up on the flight deck in a 747 and walked around a bit. nearly fell over trying to grab the jump seat for balance. Probably because i was getting like 20 frames BUT…
