The 747 has a 5th, well 3rd actually, engine pod on the port wing for transporting engines. It is a non-functional mount.
That’s good. Cause if an engine fails during those long over sea flights, you always have spare one to change it quickly.
Hahahaha you had me for a second!
I am glad someone else saw that finally.
Thought I was seeing things.
Me too, thought I’d overdosed on MSFS!
yes I even had to fly in to Longreach to check if it was actually modeled . GREAT!!!
Due to the unreliability of the Rolls Royce RB211 engines, it was prudent to carry a spare, just in case.
also, how does that plane get in and out of that spot? it appears the wing span is longer than what those yellow poles are as wide.
Those are museum pieces now, I’m not sure they are going anywhere.
That is John Travolta’s ex-707 behind the 747.
that would make sense oops
Sorry Nixon, but the 707 is the first 707-138 delivered to QANTAS in 1959. (VH-EBA) now VH-XBA). John’s 707 is the last 707-138B (VH-EBM) delivered to QF. Curently it is still in the US waiting technicalities to get it to Aus. After that it will go to to a musuem south of Sydney.
Back in 2009 - JT’s 707 (N707JT / VH-EBM) showed up at Deer Valley Airport in AZ for about a week. Word was he was shopping for real estate. Shot these pics from the airport restaurant observation deck.
You are correct. I was mistaken.
The problem with living halfway around the world.
No problems mate. I was a QF employee in Sydney when EBM was delivered new.
