I made it all the way to the ground after a 7hr flight in the Salty, but not safely. I felt like it was floating a bit above the runway but I was too aggressive getting it down and had a wing strike.
BUT, no CTD at least. I wish I could have made it to the gates so I could have claimed complete success.
Scenery mods will remain off for me on any future long haul flights and Iāll see how it goes.

So weird thing happened. Tried a flight from KMIA to TNCM @ FL390, and worked okay-is (messed up the landing but I think that was human error).
Ever since then whenever I try to fly the same route, the climb stops between FL260 & FL270, the speed drops dramatically and jerks around between 140kts-ish up to 250 again, but canāt get past 26,500 ft.
I tried it with simbrief import, and just taking off and flying it without a plan. Same thing. I donāt know what changed on my setup to cause this.
Also: anybody has a link to the Salty Discord server?
Thanks in advance
Not a Salty issue. Itās a sim issue. There are maybe a hundred posts about it over the last 48 hours.

Read the forums. I canāt believe thereās still some players who donāt know whatās going on. There are posts left and right every minute.

After programming my Bravo Throttle yesterday, I discovered a totally non-functioning Salty 747 when I tried it out. Could not even get the battery to work with the mouse click. Uninstalled the mod and tried the Asobo 747 and all was OK (except many of their buttons donāt work either, but that is SOP for Asobo planes).
Sure with FBW made a 747 but the A380 will be OK once it is released.
Ask on their Discord server.
Thanks. After writing the above, I discovered they said use the DEV version. So, I installed that one and I am good to go now.
have you got the LOC and APP buttons to work ??
??? What is that one? Iāve been having LOC and APP issues for the last couple of flights ive doneā¦
Using the DEV version It did. I have not tried the stable release yet.
Just checked the stable version while on the ground with APU running. The altitude, heading, and VS up/down knob seem to be working now. The lights do not come on but perhaps, in flight, they do. Hope this helps.
I get my updates via the FBW installer. They seem to always have the latest version.
Skip using LOC, and instead go right to the APPR button.
Thereās been a long standing bug that I think has not been fixed yet where going from LOC to APPR might not work. On their Discord server in the past, theyāve recommended to me to just go straight to APPR. It arms the localizer anyway.
Itās technically not proper procedure, but having G/S is worth it
Have to say that Iām not having a good time with Saltyā¦
I had uninstalled it but coming across this, I tried changed my approach (literallyā¦) how I did things and not selecting LOC first and going straight to APPRā¦
Just before I was established on the ILS, it started descending, it was in the LNAV/VNAV and selected APPR and it just instantly shot upā¦
Is there like other bugs or even a busted livery, just got the BA, Air NZ, Qantas, Lufthansa and thatās it reallyā¦
I recommend you not to use VNAV on your approach, the 748 is a very big plane and it is very difficult for devs to adequately model an autopilot that will handle a monster plane at high speeds and follow the altitude and other restrictions in the flight plan.
LNAV is usually fine but I normally use V/S to descend in the approach and then APPR for the ILS capture.
That works quite well I recently finished a 13 hour flight from Lima to Auckland without issues. Using the dev version from the FBW installer of course.
Oh thanks for that mate, Iāll try that tonight.
Yeah my approach to approachā¦ was just the normal pmdg/a32nx of flying everything in lnav/VNAV and selecting appr/loc as soon as im established so Iāll try your approach to theā¦ āapproachā
How was Auckland btwā¦??
If it was around the same time I arrived into Auckland, doing a wee flight from Rarotongaā¦ Quite foggyā¦
