When loading the sim the time it takes between 18% and 24% seems to take forever. After 18% the sim loads fairly quickly. Just wondering.

How full is your community folder?
Also, define “forever”
Double that time here… about 6 minutes. Basically only the sim’s stuff is in the community folder. I do not have many add ons. Maybe I am doing something wrong but how to troubleshoot???
- What kind of internet connection speed?
- Are you using a WiFi or cabled connection to the router?
- If WiFi, is it WiFi 6 (or 6E or 7) on both the router and your computer?
I know you are reporting your issue occurs between 18% & 24%, but on one of my PCs I found content in the Base package causing excessive load time when activated and a significant reduction (3x) in load time when disabled.
Food for thought:
Wired internet connection over 100 mbps download speed. Modern gaming computer I7 chip with 20 gigs of memory and all SSD drives. It is not my internet or my computer…
It might not be your computer or your internet connection speed. But there are other parts to the ‘internet’ puzzle. For example, I’ve been reading that some folks in Europe who use Telekom as their ISP having been having problems. And I’ve had personal experience with another provider here in the US who throttled my internet speed at their convenience. Using a VPN can help to resolve both situations.
Also, when you say “20 gigs of memory” that tells me you don’t have a standard RAM configuration. RAM comes in multiples of 2GB (1GB if you want to take a trip in a time machine ) And it’s typical to use either 2 or 4 DIMM’s. How do you get to 20GB?
Slip of the fingers typing should have been 22 gigs…My bad…
Our internet provider is “community” owned and the best ISP around. No such problems with them. FWIW
OK, but 22GB is still a weird number.
Did you mean 24GB? Even with that you could be running into problems.
If your memory usage exceeds 24GB, Windows will start using a page file, which is (forgive me if you already know this) virtual memory located on a physical storage drive. If the sim is paging data you will definitely have major performance issues.
What is your exact RAM configuration? I have 2x32GB. Others have 2x24GB, or 2x16GB. It’s possible (though not recommended) to use three DIMM’s, like 3x8GB. Less than 32GB total is not optimal.
