When to get MSFS2024

I have read many differing posts about the good and bad of 2024.
I know that I have to make the ultimate decision but, any thoughts from fellow simmers as to whether it would be best to wait another month or two ot to juimp in now.
Any thoughts appreciated

Moved to General Discussion that is more appropriate.

My Personal Comment & Observation
Hi @oldpilot54
If you are sitting on the fence, purchasing a one-month Gamepass would allow you to try MSFS & see how it works on your system. If it is not to your liking, your wallet is not that much thinner, but if it meets your expectations, then you could purchase on Steam.

Hi,

Its still amateur hour. Stupid little bugs, that you look at, and wonder if they did any testing at all. Having said that, it’s quite immersive and fun. but you have to accept the lack of quality control. If you are willing to install it many times because of crazy bugs that indicate the most basic of testing was not completed, you could have some fun. If you intend to start it up, and just fly with no weird problems, certainly wait a couple of months. Its certainly not at production level quality yet.

Thanks

Don’t waste your time or get emotionally involved. The number of failures at Asobo is mind boggling. Like if you try to fly a career mission between midnight and 12:30 am, you get kicked out of the mission as the day resets. Don’t get caught up on a long flight at that time because you’re about to be reset. Otherwise there’s a lot of planes that aren’t functioning correctly, graphics can be ■■■■ (i’m attaching a rather embarrassing image), there’s career missions you can’t complete and you can’t progress far in the career because they didn’t develop all of it.

hey i just bought msfs 2024 and fenix airbus, flight sim itself working fine but the latest update is messed up the fenix airbus so i cant even fly we all have to wait for the update from fenix my thought would be just buy it and wait for few updates. like it was flyable few days ago with fenix aircraft so be patient

Why use an area of photogrammetry to show bad graphics, everyone knows photogrammetry looks terrible on the ground.

I jumped in at launch and despite the difficulties I was pleased to.
That said, a certain frame of mind was required to cope with the struggle.

The time to jump in depends on how much polish you want and how much precision you require from systems.

The more you want, the longer you should wait.

I would strongly recommend to follow the advice from another reply above. Just get a 1 month sub for gamepass and test if it runs and if it is what you are looking for.
If everything is fine, just go ahead and purchase. If not try it later or move away at all.
I would say nobody here can tell you if it will even run on your setup.

Great advice on the gamepass route. Just get a month sub, try it out and if you don’t like it you aren’t out too much money.

I am someone who has spent a lot of time getting my system and sim to run (almost) flawlessly smooth in VR using airliners and GA aircraft. I only fly on VATSIM. For some reason, it completes the immersion along with VR and gives the closest experience to real-world flying that I have seen.

So - my plan is: I will be staying on 2020 using a sim that I thoroughly enjoy to replicate real world flights I make and also to perform flights that I am not able to do IRL (I’m not type rated on a 777 for example  )… Until I start seeing a majority of favorable reports on this forum that 1. VR is working well for users with similar systems to mine (14900k/4090/64GB RAM) 2. The aircraft I have paid for outside of marketplace (almost all of them outside marketplace) are working in 2024 as they did in 2020. 3. There is a compelling reason to upgrade - meaning the visuals and flight model are much improved to make it worth my while. I don’t care at all about career mode or any of the other game-y features they added to 2024. For me, the most realistic experience is VR + VATSIM with high fidelity add-on aircraft. Until that is working better than it does in 2020, I can’t see any reason to move to a new (and currently very broken) platform.

But I’m thankful for those who did make the jump and continue to provide reports on this forum. You are my eyes and ears and are providing invaluable feedback that will help me make an eventual decision to move to 2024. So thanks again!

Thankyou all for your responses.
I will wait till the new year and then look at a one month game pass.
Hopefully things will have improved to a point where the sim is in better shape.
