Where are patches installed?

Please, where do I install a patch? I have everything installed on my G: drive (moved base installation from C:/AppData)? It gives me a choice but I don’t know where to install it? Thanks.

The Store/Steam update installs installs in the installation location. The content downloaded in game in whichever folder you chose during install.

Just to clarify - I can install PATCHES wherever I like within MSFS? That just sounds a little strange to me but…

Of course not. How the pacth will overwrite the original base files.

There are two folders:

  1. Is where the MS Store or Steam installs games. This will contain the few GB downloaded in the store. The base executables, dll’s etc.
  2. The folder you choose to download the content to the first time you run the game (and can be changed afterwards on the loading screen). This is where all the stuff downloaded inside the game goes. The 100’ of GB’s. Asobo and in game bought extensions go into the Official folder there. Mods and 3rd party content into Community.

So during an update those 2 folders are used. Depending on which part of the update we’re talking about (store or game). Updated content will overwrite the old one. New stuff (like the Japan world update) will create new folders and files.
