anyone know if this was added in the last update? I’m no xbox so no i cannot download the add on that PC people have developed.
No, afraid not. I don’t think they’re ever going to bother, tbh. I’ve just about given up on 2024 on XBSX. Going back to 2020 on XBSX is the only sensible choice: not only do we get back A.I. Pilot (it will literally fly complete flights for you start to finish), but everything works, and it runs great. I think the devs recently announced another significant update for 2020, too, so don’t give up hope. There’s plenty of life in the old girl, yet!
Yeah 2024 has been a mess since release on XBOX.
Career mode is still completely broken. They just fixed landing challenges but still doesn’t run well and you don’t get any grades at the end of it. And all the other modes are dog ■■■■.
AI Pilot was great in 2020 and no reason for them to take it out of 2024.
I went back to 2020 also but it’s such a hog on Xbox. My 2020 with all addon’s is like 400GB. I uninstalled it when 2024 came out but I don’t really want to reinstall it.
I play 2020 on Xcloud now but you have to redownload all the add-on’s everytime which I dont really have time for anymore.
MSFS2024 has really killed any interest I had in a flight sim. MSFS 2020 on XBOX was a great experience (not perfect but before SU10 the game ran perfect on xbox) but I no longer have any desire to play any flight sim game since 2024 is sooooooooooooooo broken!
It is broken and should be taken a look at!
I run 2020 on XBSX with just a few add-ons and the particular WUs I want (so, say, just the Caribbean and Brazil WUs atm, for example, and a few choice plane add-ons). This keeps it running very smoothly on console—I really don’t have any issues.
In 2024, I miss not having A.I. Pilot too much. Its absence kills any joy I might get from 2024’s slightly upgraded visuals. All the fun is gone—in 2020, I can plot a route, jump into a plane, and fly pretty much ‘hands-off’ all the way. Not so in 2024. It’s a terrible shame they did this. It also means they’ve effectively stopped me spending any money on 2024 add-ons - what’s the point? The main attraction for me (A.I. Pilot) has been left out. Why would I bother?
I’ve been playing videogames since the 1970s and never payed for DLC ever EXCEPT MSFS 2020 on Xbox. The only game I’ve ever spent money on other than buying the actual game.
The main reason for that was the AI Pilot because I could take videos of my takeoff and landings etc…
I won’t buy anything from the store for MSFS 2024 for the main reason is the game doesn’t even work. It plays like garbage and buying DLC for 2024 is throwing away money. The store menu is so clunky and unsmooth in 2024 that it shows you they’ve really not spent much effort on fixing anything at least for the xbox version.
The entire Career mode was a great idea but the execution is completely broken. After spending hours in buying a plane only to have the game crash the plane where It was upside down when the mission started is inexcusable for me.
update - when i said i bought a plane in career mode i didnt buy it with real money like i would have in the marketplace. i ‘bought’ he plane within the career game mode with the credits you accumulate while playing.
To be clear, I’m asking the developer to put this into MSFS 2024. For many of us, this was a core gameplay loop in 2020. A reason to play, and fun, and relaxing. And a reason to invest in add-ons and see where the journey took us as we travelled the globe in search of fantastic vistas. We’re not pilots (not even virtual pilots) - we were happy-go-lucky passengers, going along for the ride, grateful for the simplicity of it all. A way to roam this amazing facsimile planet and discover the adventure.
It was never included in 2024. I don’t know why. Maybe the developer didn’t think it was necessary or proper. Was it too complicated? Too costly? Who knows?
It was often unreliable, but that does not necessarily mean it couldn’t be improved. In the picture below is a Carenado C337 Skymaster. This plane - specifically, this plane - works 98% of the time with A.I. Pilot in 2020. I know this because I fly this plane almost exclusively in 2020 with A.I. Pilot. It will take off, fly, and land (and park!) completely ‘hands-free’ nearly every time. Just give it a simple flight plan, and it will invariably be executed without clowning about.
So, what did Carenado do right specifically with this plane to make it work so well with A.I. Pilot? I have no idea. The same cannot be said of their other products. Something about this particular plane—it just works with A.I. Pilot. Try it for yourself. You’ll be surprised.
If this works (and it does), why can’t this be a learning example to implement in 2024? It would make so many of us happy and give us a reason to embrace 2024 instead of keeping us tethered to 2020, because the one thing we really liked about 2020 was omitted from 2024. How about it?
Any news yet
I hope this function get’s implemented pretty soon. AI Pilot isn’t currently in the game which excludes a whole group of people from playing the game like people with disabillities.
