Hi all, looking for some help. I have a Steam install which I had to completely reinstall after SU5 as my C drive couldn’t free up space.
The location of my install is D:/Steamlibrary/MSFS…
However i can’t work out which is the correct community folder to use. I appear to have two community folders in this location. One is D:/Steamlibrary/MSFS/Community. The second is D:/Steamlibrary/MSFS/Packages/Community.
I assumed the second would be the right one as it is a similar path to the ‘default’ %appdata% location when i installed on my C: drive. However i’ve placed various files in there, including Megapack liveries that i know worked when the game was installed on my C: drive and nothing seems to appear in the game.
I’ve also tried putting files in the first location D:/Steamlibrary/MSFS/Community but still nothing works.
I have seen guides explaining you can check the games community location in dev mode > tools > virtual file system > watched bases. But I don’t see the watched bases option (did this go in SU5??).
So i’m really stuck. Any help would be massively appreciated as i miss my liveries and community airports!
If it helps the main community file i’m using to test is Sywell aerodrome from here - https://flightsim.to/file/14166/egbk-sywell-aerodrome
Put a different plane in each folder, launch MSFS, and in the hangar look wich one appears.
You’ll have the answer.
Thanks for the advice. Not really using planes as community files. More liveries for A320 default and airports/scenery. I’m copying folders into all my community folders and nothing seems to work.
I’m also puzzled as to why i can’t see watched bases from my dev tools. That should tell me what community folder the game references.
If I suggest planes, it’s because it’s easyer to to see in MSFS by just going into the hangar. You can delete them after testing.
If you install let’s say the Grravel in your first Community folder (D:/Steamlibrary/MSFS/Community)
and the Goose in the second one (D:/Steamlibrary/MSFS/Packages/Community)
there is no risk of confusion and you’ll be sure wich one is correct.
Do this with only the plane in the folder, it’s important (save the others addons in a complete different folder during the tests).
If you use an addon manager (like Addons linker) don’t forget to update it after changes.
Naturally, all copying/deleting/installing must be done with MSFS not running (seems to be trivial but sometimes…). And don’t use any devs tools during these tests. Turn dev mode off. It have to be done step by step until finding what happens.
Rebooting the PC after changes but before testing is always a good idea.
