Paraphrasing the question: which default plane has lowest possible system requirement to make the VR experience using MSFS Steam/Quest 2 as good as possible on a low-end desktop PC with an i7-8700, a GTX 1070ti, 32 GB RAM, 950 Mbps ethernet connection and a 50 Mbps 5 Ghz wifi connection.
What should I expect? Also, should I use a cable or wifi? Thank you.
General rule is any airplane that doesnt have a glass cockpit. The more complex systems the aircraft has might play a factor too but not sure. In my opinion I find the C152 is really FPS friendly. I heard people that have really good internet speed find the WIFI better. My internet is on the slower side so I use the cable without issues. Hope this helps.
Actually in VR glass cockpit isnt the case. I have better fps with 172 (g1000) and 208b and even tbm than c152. You can boost fps with every aircraft with
disabling propellers (there is prop mod)
removing window scratches (there is also mod for it)
disabling reactor steam from jet engine and turboprop
Also for testing performance with lowest demanding scenery, I use the Mt. Everest Discovery Flight but use the camera popup to move to the cockpit. I make sure I have smooth, clear performance there before going elsewhere. Also, the Giza Egypt Discovery flight has the Cessna 152 and that should be great for initial testing.
