Which JS

Had a great thread the other day on whether to get a JS or yoke. LOT of good info. As a result, went looking for a JS mand settled on a Thrustmaster after reading the comments, looking at YouTube and various vendor websites.

So now am considering the following three JSs:

Thrustmaster T16000M FCS

Thrustmaster T-Flight Hotas X Flight Stick

Thrustmaster 2960778 T.16000M FCS HOTAS Controller

Thoughts as to which would be preferable? I have looked at videos on each one and compared one to the other via YouTube videos. But, want to get some real-world feedback.

THANKS - Ken

P.S. Would love to seriously consider the WartHog - but I will not sell my first-born child!

I’m fairly sure the first and the third options are the same joystick-wise, it’s just the third one comes with a separate throttle.

Not sure about the HOTAS X, but the first/third joysticks have Hall Effect Magnetic sensors, which have much improved accuracy on the stick axes versus potentiometers (the majority of the market).

If you want to save some bucks, just get the stick, it has a built-in throttle axis at the base. Saves you space as well. Otherwise, if you want a separate throttle, get the stick and throttle package.

Thanks for the feedback - that is the way I am leaning as the stick does have a slider that can be used for the throttle.

Thanks - Ken

You are correct the Thrustmaster T-Flight Hotas X Flight Stick seems to use pots. I am wanting Hall effect sensors so this JS is out. It does get praise for its capability vs. price point though. Comments pretty much do recommend the T.16000M which uses the same JS ‘sensors’ as the Warthog JS - only a lot lower cost.

I’m using the T16000M + FCS HOTAS controller.

The joystick is amazing. The throttle needs some tinkering with. If you reduce the slide-resistance by loosening the screw on the bottom, it’s a very nice piece of kit. If you don’t change this, it tends to stick a bit instead of sliding smoothly.

For the price you can’t really go wrong with it. I’m very pleased with it. Especially if you want to go into VR in the future, the throttle and all the extra buttons / knobs it comes with will be very helpful.
