Which of the three is the best choice which will REALLY enhance my flight simming? Does the high price tag of OLED outweigh the other monitor’s features? I mostly fly IFR like the Fenix. Currently on the ASUS ROG STRIX XG27ACS 27” 1440P Flat IPS
I treated myself to a Samsung g9 ultra wide oled a year ago and I love the inky blackness you get in msfs, makes a colossal difference especially from dusk to dawn. Can’t imagine going back to non oled.
If you can fit in a 32in monitor in preference to a 27, I felt it made a big improvement to my enjoyment of the sim.
On the type of monitor, if you can find an OLED or QD-OLED in budget, the colour range and accuracy are much nicer than IPS or VA, and this applies to all uses of course, not just flight sim.
If you do look at an OLED, check what the manufacturer has in place to avoid any potential problems with image burn-in, and also the warranty on offer in case you have any issues. My MSI has an automated panel refresh system and a 3 year warranty that specifically covers the potential risk. Having said that, as long as you don’t sit for hours and hours looking at exactly the same screen and take advantage of features like taskbar dimming, it’s unlikely to be an issue for the majority of users.
This is what I’m concerned about. I have a AW34 inch VA but I’d like to have the colours and contrast of QD OLED but with MSFS I’m afraid of burn in. But I may bite the bullet and go for it anyway. It’s from Best about so maybe if I throw geek squad on it for piece of mind.
