I don’t have an Xbox or Playstation but I am considering purchasing a separate controller to use with the PC for controlling the drone camera. Which version controller would be the best for this use? Thanks!
I bought the Xbox wireless one which works well
I feel like thats a personal preference theyre almost the same buttonwise i use xbox but thats just because i played xbox in highschool and i am used to it cant speak for playstation but i picked up a wired microsoft brand xbox controller for 20$ and it connects with a like 20 foot usb so now i have a 20 ft phone charger. So thats a plus lol
Thank you. I didn’t have a preference, since I didn’t have any to begin with. But I think wireless, though more expensive, would be neater (one less cable to clutter the desktop). I just thought there were different versions of Xbox, so there might be different versions of controller that might not be compatible with the Windows PC that I should steer clear of.
All wired XBox controllers are compatible with PC. Some wireless don’t have the usb dongle/reciver but that’s in the description.
If you are only using it for the drone camera some knock off xbox controller should be good enough. The original microsoft controlers are really good (had an xbox360 wired controller for more then 7 years and only recently changed it to an xbox one controller but only because i wanted)
Thank you!
Same here as not having an Xbox but wanted a controller for the drone. My son, an avid gamer, said don’t waste money on a non Microsoft controller as they don’t use the same quality components as the originals. Bought a wireless Xbox One controller without the wireless dongle and have it plugged in. Works awesome. Very high quality feel in the hands.
Thank you! I didn’t realize the wireless model works plugged in as well without a dongle. Good to know. I know it’s more expensive, but you get what you pay for.
AFAIK, all Xbox controllers can be used with a usb cord to be connected to a pc except perhaps older wired controllers with a proprietary connector at the end to be plugged into an older Xbox.
This is only the xbox controller for the first xbox. The xbox 360 allready used usb for the controllers.
I’ve had recent experience with this. I have a Nvidia Shield controller. It works fine except that there are no default controls mapped. I borrowed an Xbox controller from a friend and documented the mappings from it, I then added these mappings to my Shield controller…quite an arduous task. So I recommend the purchase of an Xbox controller. Also be aware that the Xbox 360 controller uses a proprietary USB connector cable and does not support Bluetooth. Get the Xbox 1 or Series X controller, save yourself alot of work. BTW the default mappings for the Xbox controller make using the Drone camera a treat. I’ve made a PDF of these mappings I’d like to share if I can find a forum that let’s me upload the file.
