Who finally was responsible for creating the MAX 737?

I am genuinely curious about who was responsible for the development of this aircraft. Since its launch, several issues have emerged that make it quite challenging to fly. The bug logs detail these problems, so I’m not raising this as a formal bug report; instead, I’d like to discuss the flow-through process of this aircraft and the need for revisiting it.

To be frank, when I look at first-party aircraft developers, the only ones that seem to produce “decent” planes ready to fly right out of the box are INIBuild. While I acknowledge that WT has made significant advancements in Garmin GPS systems and general aviation aircraft, I wonder if the same level of attention to correcting basic bugs is being applied to their airliners.

I’m not sure how many of the 737M8 bugs are avionics related. Those would be under WT’s purview. I don’t think they did systems or modelling.

WT was made responsible for the 787 and 747 later avionics updates that went into MSFS2020, bringing them up to a good quality level versus what they were. I think that is a good basis for what they can do with airliners. They are not just Garmin and GA. They also did the EPIC, Pro Line 21, and some others.

Not entirely true, they do allot of work outside of the Garmin.

The Collins in the CJ4 for example.

I would not be surprised if this was Captain Sim LOL. This plane is awfully bad, even for Asobo standards.

Microblog 2025-03-17 four months after release
Setting: The first airliner mission in carreer.

  1. Mission start. The aircraft still doesnt spawn in cold and dark mode.
I import flightplan from Simbrief and it seems to load into the FMS without issues. The exception is that I appear to be carrying roughly four times as much fuel, as is neccessary for this trip. No way to defuel or change fuel quantity (except add even more, through a magic “cheat” key-bind

  2. As per the mission instructions, I request clearance. Nothing happens. I proceed with FMS setup, and eventually push back from the gate.
After pushback is complete, I request taxi, as per instructions. Again, nothing happens.
As this is to me an unfamiliar Airport, I check the EFB to try to figure out the taxi path. Map is 6x6 pixels and a blurry mess.
I switch to Navigraph Map. The menus are almost un-readable, as the side EFB in the cockpit is weirdly scaling evereything. Further more, I can not see where on the map I am parked, even though repeatedly clicking the “Show position on map” button. Oh well. I proceed to taxi “on feeling”
The radio silence continues as I reach the threshold and request departure clearance. I take off anyway

  3. After taking off and starting my climb I immidately notice three things. First of all, the aircraft does not follow the flight path. Clicking on and off LNAV has no effect. Eventually I solve this by selecting a WP and going direct to. After this LNAV behaves as expected. Second, the Aircraft busts through the 250kts speed restriction, even thoug it is targeting 250. The mission deducts points for this, even though I did nothing wrong, and it was half a knot, to one knot over.
And third, I have a master caution for AIR COND. The BLEED warning stays with us for the entire flight, and there’s seemingly nothing to do about it. Reaching cruise alt, the Aircraft busts through max speed and goes into the red. going selected speed and trying to manipulate the target spd does nothing. Only option is to turn AT off.

  4. I the descent, the aicraft stops at FL290. I check restrictions to try to figure out wth is going on. Alt restriction at FL180. Switching off VNAV and going FL CHG.

  5. On approach both VNAV and FL CHG stopped working. Neither could I engage VORLOC or APP. I flew the ILS manually. After landing, I got directed to a gate, but there was no “parking box” to stop in. Could not finish the mission.

So in conclusion. What is actually working in this aircraft? Well you tell me. I guess the exterior 3D model is good. Interior.. well you still can not access the cabin, as clicking the flight deck door, somehow makes your Pilot try to abandon ship,
This aircraft is a steaming pile of garbage, and to be honest, Asobo should be ashamed that this product is out there for the world to experience and review. At this point it feels like it should not have left early apha stage. Definitly closed Alpha. The fact that it is in a product that is ctually being sold, makes me feel it is actually abandonware instead.
Embarrasing Asobo. And if you can’t do better, then don’t do it at all.

One of my worst experiences in flight simming, for sure. Including many freeware products that are very very bad, but still better than this.

Oh, and the transponder is still broken. What a shame.

Working Title didn’t create the 737 MAX 8, just the avionics package. The rest of the aircraft is Asobo directly.

Worst plane in the sim and whats even worse is that Jorge was super proud of it. It’s a piece of junk like cap sim planes

Yeah so it basically continues to make me beg the question answered. Who ultimately is responsible for this rendition, it seems all of the Boeing planes leave a lot to be desired. A stark contrast with the Airbus.

There are far too many problems with the Asobo MAX and it’s sad it hasn’t received any love 4 months after FS2024’s release.

Well it’s on par with the rest of the sim.

That’s a different discussion entirely, but some of are quite enjoying FS’24 now, subject to the limits of the aircraft available. Get me my Boeings and a few badly-missed warbirds updated for compatibility and I’d be happy as a clam.

But not with the current state of the MAX. Compared to the iFly in '20, it’s a poor shadow of what the aircraft could be in '24.

Wish the cockpit door would not jump you back outside so you could easily enter the cabin for custom view setting with SHIFT+F6, etc-but nope, not a priority for SU2 beta or even the later SU3, instead the BBJ cabin was enhanced in the SU2 beta.

There’s a wishlist item for this to apply to all aircraft - hope that one gets picked up.
