I donāt recall anyone saying GA is boring, because that would be disingenuous to say the least. GA encompasses a huge variety and GA can be anything you want it to be, so Iād say that those who think that GA is boring, is simply doing it wrong
That was a beautiful video though and I absolutely adore Lofoten and would advise anyone to fly around there especially now with the midnight sun! Absolutely wonderful scenery.
I do GA flights a lot in the NY southern teir region and finger lakes regions if you needed more areas to explore I highly recommended checking them out in a GA
Thank you for standing up for GA! it is definitely not boring especially flying VFR low and slow and bouncing around in the sky.
Thanks for all the nice comments, I fully agree
Gorgeous scenery, and in the perfect lighting!
Literally just getting back home after a road trip to Norway, featuring Lofoten. Almost canāt wait to get back to the sim to head back.
I have been flying versions of this sim since the Sublogic days and my goal back then and getting into MSFS2020 recently was to primarily to fly airliners. The past scenery graphics have been pretty much cut and paste textures up until now, so VFR wasnāt really a thing, but now it is, so I now spend 90% + of my time flying around in GA as I find it much more enjoyable, well at the moment anyway.
Nice video and with one of my favorite planes in the sim. Iāll have to explore that area.
Yeah, I donāt think anyone ever said GA is boring. Even for me who are full-time jet airliner flight simmer in MSFS, I donāt think GA is boring.
However, GA isnāt really my cup of tea. Not because itās boring, but because itās not something that I donāt prefer in flying. I like flying jetliner because itās high-tech, itās complex autopilot and flight computers are what excites me. Itās also because jetliners are the aircraft that I travel on 99% of the time as a passenger, while GA aircraft are something that I almost never fly and probably never will. Itās just too āmanualā and too āanalogā for my taste.
So I like jetliners more because itās more familiar for me, and the complex computer that can fly from point A to point B on its own is more exciting for me than handflying a GA across mountains/valleys or over rivers. And even for jetliners, I prefer current-gen airliners like A330-900neo, A320neo, or the A350. Even A300 or A310 is too old for my taste and I donāt like flying them either.
So, Itās just subjective preferenceā¦ Itās an awesome video, btw.
I actually prefer GA. I find programming a plane to go from A to B boring. I want to fly-by-feel not fly-by-wire.
I also canāt really comprehend people that make 8-12 hour flights, when 90% of the time they donāt really use the simulator and do sth else, while their Xbox/pc pretty much just generates hot air. Just doesnāt make sense to me.
I donāt mind a modern navigational system, but for me itās more fun to actually navigate with course/time and visual aids. Thatās why I like the USA (savage cub) and Havaii (c152) bushtrips the most, cause you have to use the world asobo created around you to get where you need to be.
I had the some experience, it was more fun flying larger planes in the older releases, but MSFS changed this completely for me.
I can use real life VFR maps, plot the route, so the calculations, jump into the plane and fly the route without touching any of the additional sim navigation features. In my living room, on a desktop computer. How cool is that?
I fully understand you, I like those airliners as well, itās always a lack of time instead of MSFS getting boringš
This is a fun upbeat video. I mostly fly airliners but seldomly fly GAs. I mostly vfr over major cities when I do. Never boring, but want to cut it short because my passion is more towards airliners.
I fly GA with a group of like minded people, which makes it much more of a social activity. I can see just flying around aimlessly could be a bit dull without a purpose - but then thereās things like Neofly.
āWho says flying GA is boring?ā
I donāt know - who? Because Iāve never heard anyone say it. In fact, quite the reverse. Flying airliners is a profession; GA is a hobby. And a hobby is what you do for fun.
Nicely said, I agree.
Did my last flight over Lofoten a couple of days ago (on a DC-3) and it was beautiful as usual (took some shots and posted on random screenshots megathread).
Never found GA boring, and even if sometimes my GA flights last 2/3 hrs (with a 152, 180, V35B, Bristell B23, DHC-2, etcā¦) I always find those more enjoyable than a one hour flight on an airliner.
Since this thread is so alive letās share one more edit. I make a lot of airline videos, they are little easier to make. Making an interesting GA video can be a little more complicated. But still fun to do!
Iām a GA man, held a PPL for 1000hrs back when so prefer travelling the world at lower levels using Bonanza & C172, but if Iāve only got a short time I haul the Robin out and have a quick troll around my local airstrips. Always wanted to fly a Citation so I learned that and travelled further then rented something small for local sightseeing.
But then a young friend wanted to fly the A320 so we had a go at that and really enjoyed the technical challenge so periodically take a load of pax somewhere exotic. However not interested in airline flying, that is there and back twice a day for a month!
Never been bored, MSFS has so many different ways to enjoy flight Iāll never explore them all.
