I got a great deal on an open box I5-13600kf, 1tb SSD, 32gb DDR5 ram with an RTX 4070 PC at Best buy for $299. Crazy I know. Needless to say, I’m selling my Xbox series X .
My question is: I’m using a Hisense 65in TV 4k 60hz with variable frame rate as my monitor on an enhanced HDMI 2.1 port with low latency on. I’m running 2020 on ultra and 2024 on high settings and am averaging 60 smooth fps. I can get double that if I use frame rate gen, but I don’t care for it. I’m running both sims at 1440 rez. Dlss on and set to auto. Refresh rate in the sims at 100 percent.
Nvidia app is set to default settings but I do have g sync on. Now it seems my fps never go over 60 and rarely go under 60. Is this because my TV is 60hz? I use Alt R to check my fps. Only time it goes over 60 is using frame rate generation. Then it’s in the 100s. Hmm. So if you have a 60hz TV I’m deducing frame rates can never go over 60? Now I’m not complaining about any of this because the graphics look awesome. It’s given me a whole new perspective on 2024 though I still hate the clouds. But I’m still pinching myself for my good fortune in getting this system at such a low price.
The thing is, I’m getting a soap opera effect on both sims . With low latency on, any motion smoothness is off on my TV. So what is the mathematical reason I’m getting this effect? Or does it just look so dang good I should shut up and not complain?
