Why are some Cockpits so Dark at Day Time?

Thank you for the photo, is also my opinion !
Please don’t go back to the “bunker light” as in P3D !
MSFS has one of the best and most realistic looking lighting ever, some with tricks and maybe and not always correctly “simulated”, but on the whole it does a very good job.
And please don’t report personal preferences as bugs (we already had it with turbulence, I can’t look into the sun…etc), rather as a suggestion or as described above as an option ok - then everyone is happy. To say it is completely wrong, IS WRONG, everyone who is not in the cockpit every day but has withdrawn money from an ATM against the sun can understand what is “simulated” here.

Try to turn off iris effect.

Did you drive a car in sunrise or sunset. Everything out is bright and you can’t see nothing on dash.
It is because iris of your eyes adapts to light.
Iris is getting closed when you look at light, but dash is less lightned/less light is reflected from it, so you see only black surface.

How does one turn off iris effect?

In MSFS it is called " eye adaptation". This setting is " On or off", in the CFG file found in you MSFS file in AppData on C. 1 is on and 0 is off. It gives a little help to this issue…I have found it worthwhile doing

I would advice not to turn off eye adaptation. For me, when I turn it off, i then get overblown bright clouds.

I also find the FBW displays very dark in the day even at 100%. Can be very annoying. I don’t have this issue with the G1000/G3000.

That suggests your own video / graphics settings.

OFTEN I QUESTION the VERACITY of your OPINIONS
Jeff Bezos says, “You have to remember that contrarians are usually wrong .” There’s often a good reason the vast majority of people take one side when it comes to solving a problem or making a decision. It isn’t necessary, or even very helpful, to always take the opposing view.
