But Windows File Explorer doesn’t see it. I checked the properties by right-clicking on the file in Ransack. The file is not hidden.
It also finds it in:
“D:\XboxGames\Microsoft Flight Simulator_1\Content\gamelaunchhelper.exe”
But File Explorer doesn’t see it either.
The problem is I need to point GeForce Experience to that file (since for some incredibly STUPID reason nVidia doesn’t include MSFS in its list of “supported games.”
(Correction…MSFS 40th Edition is shown as a supported game. But GFE won’t capture a .JXR file - only .PNG)
That file was there before 1.33.8.0.
Now it’s SUPER hidden.
GFE screenshots are PNG’s now, because I can’t link to the MSFS exe.
What the HECK!!!
I found FlightSimulator.exe in the folder:
C:\Program Files\WindowsApps\Microsoft.FlightSimulator_1.33.8.0_x64__8wekyb3d8bbwe
But when GFE scans that folder it doesn’t find the file…
I use GFE for HDR screenshots, and when it works, it works great.
I also use to to rescale by GPU down to 85%, then run 2560x1440 in the sim, which adds 10 fps and reduces latency. I hate to give that up…
That is file explorer.
And when i click it, it runs FS2020.
If you go to the D:\FS2020 folder. The above is not listed.
It is hidden by MS.
Note that I do have “Show Hidden Files” selected in File Explorer.
It is hidden by the app. But, you can manually type it in.
I disconnected all the cables right after I posted this thread. (It was getting to be a rat’s nest…)
I’ll rewire everything tomorrow and check it out.
I don’t recall seeing a D:\FS2020 folder. Is that where you installed the sim?
I installed mine to D:\MSFS_Packages, and that’s the root of the subfolder where gamelaunchhelper.exe used to be easily found
I have ‘Show Hidden Files’ checked on.
And Agent Ransack found the file. But because the app hides it, GFE can’t find it. I assume that’s because it’s just looking at the directory tree, and not using a search algorithm. Thanks a lot, nVidia…
Do you use GFE? Can you point it to the sim and screenshot .JXR files?
That’s my problem. I used to be able to (because GFE could see the gamelaunchhelper.exe, but now it only screenshots as PNG’s (I’m assuming because the app is hiding that file.)
