Why do my colors look like this?

When I’m in the “world map” setting up my departure airport, the world looks great; colors are correct, things look nice.

Then I start flying, and everything looks dull and blue. Where do I even begin to fix this? Thanks!

Cockpit colors look ok:

Here’s what the map view looks like, nice and green, Crater Lake is clearly a lake:

Have you ever flown in a commercial airliner? That’s what it really looks like much of the time due to haze in the atmosphere. I’d say it’s accurate.

I’ve flown this route in real life as a pax in a PC-24 @ FL380 about a dozen times over the last year and a half, and it’s never looked like this. This looks completely washed out; like I have a filter of some sort going on.

Here are a couple of screenshots from a few minutes ago in that area.

  • I do not use the nVidia App
  • I use ReShade
  • These are SDR screenshots, but I normally use HDR, and things look better (better black levels, color gamut, and dynamic range.

Haze and other weather conditions will make things looked washed out at times, but on a clear day it should look much more vibrant. But the higher you fly the more atmosphere you have to look through to get to the ground.

If you don’t like the standard look I’d recommend trying the program reshade, download it and there are a lot of presets on flightsim.to, try them until you find one that you like. There are YouTube videos on how to set it up and add presets. This has done the most for my visuals in sim.over anything else, next for me will be Rex Atmos Core when it’s released

Here are some screenshots with reshade on

Here’s a screenshot in the same area, but on the ground.

Ground view and clarity will be different than in the air of course. IRL I’ve been in 172 and cirrus’s that at 6000 AGL I can’t see the ground due to haze. Weather, time of day, altitude will all affect visibility

Yeah, that’s why I posted pics in the air and on the ground.

Sorry, I’ve flown over 300 times and the colors in FS2024 aren’t even close to being accurate.

Honestly, I couldn’t care less that they’re not perfect. ReShade + HDR looks fantastic.

But that’s just me. I’m easily amused.

Just sad that we have to use tools to make it look like it should. I always thought 2020 looked right out of the box. Just needed to adjust your monitor a bit. But 2024’s blue is not even blue. How can you get the colors of the ocean and sky wrong? But they did haha. I still only fly 2020. No amount of editing will get it to look right.
