Twice in the last 24 hours, and quite a few times over the last few weeks, I’ll load up a flight and notice that my graphics are stuttering and my FPS is very low. I go into Graphics settings, and it’s completely changed from what I’ve carefully selected. It’s usually set to DLSS (I use TAA), all of my Global Rendering Quality settings are on Ultra, Frame Gen is turned off (I use 2x), etc.
Why does this happen? I do back up my UserCfg.opt file for safe keeping, but this is getting annoying.
Update: I just restarted my sim, and now it’s back to the DLSS settings, etc. Sheesh!
I believe the most common reasons for this are either having some sort of auto-optimization enabled in an Nvidia app or by incorrectly closing the sim (anything other than the Quit to Desktop button from the main menu would be considered “incorrect”).
Aside from those, I’m not sure what might cause your issue.
This happened to me a month or so ago. I don’t use the nVidia App, and I always exit the sim properly.
Turns out that my Cloud data was corrupted, and not updating properly on exit.
The only way I could fix it was to run this in CMD as adminstrator.
WARNING, RUNNING THIS COMMAND WILL DELETE YOUR LOGBOOK AND SETTINGS BUT NOT YOUR CAREER. YOU WILL HAVE TO CREATE A NEW CHARACTER AND REDO ALL YOUR BINDINGS
this is the command from the support page for anyone interested
I paid attention to this warning and tried to save my settings being running it, but that didn’t work. The saved profiles errored when I tried to restore them. You’re on your own with that.
For me it wasn’t a big deal, because I use SPAD, along will mostly empty profiles for everything but the mouse and keyboard. I did run into some issues with keyboard command conflicts, but it wasn’t too hard to resolve those.
