Personal comments:
Based on the various posts in this topic, I would say the issue (or better said from my point of view a different approach than XP12) is not the Mt Rainier itself since it is rendered correctly when close enough but the way the zoom functionality renders the image when zooming in.
This wish could maybe cover what OP is asking for: Change camera zoom to properly zoom and not just enlarge
