I have photogrammetry scenery turned on, and I’m running internet data in the “on” position.
Why do the previews show it as an actual tower with an observation deck-- much like the Space Needle in Seattle, but mine won’t?
Do you have photogrammetry turned on? That looks like autogen buildings.
Well I thought I did. I double checked and photogrammetry is turned on, but my rolling cache is set to 0. Maybe that’s the problem? I’ve moved my rolling cache location to an external hard drive with more space, and have upped the limit to 100 GB. I’ll restart the computer after it’s done building the location. Maybe that will help? I hope so. This Leggo Land skyline is not what I expected.
The other question - did you actually get the NZ World Update from the Marketplace and install it? Because that looks like autogen to me, not photogrammetry. Aukland was autogen before the NZ update. It’s one of the new PG cities. If you didn’t install the NZ update from the Marketplace, you’ll still see the autogen. And Sky Tower is one of their new modelled POIs.
That leads me to beleive you don’t have it installed.
No I did not. You’re right. I went into the content manager, but not the Marketplace. That was my big undoing. Where it said number of updates available, it said, 0. So I thought there were none. I guess I’m going to have to dig further and deeper to find them. They don’t make it so obvious I don’t think.
But thank you so much. I’ll consider that the solution and check the box accordingly. I’ll let you know how things turn out, but right now I gotta’ wait for my rolling cache to update, since I started that, and it’s taking awhile.
Just FYI, Rolling Cache is only really worthwhile if you fly in the same areas often. And even then, if you have a good internet connection, it’s not really needed. If anything, it can cause issues between updates where you have to clear it so that old data isn’t used over newer data.
Sorry I put this in the wrong category.
While I’m on the subject, I now see where to grab World Update XII pack in the Market Place. It’s kind of confusing though. Why isn’t the pack automatically installed when I do the update? Why do I have to install it separately? Seems kind of silly to me… no wonder I missed it. I will now see how it looks.
World updates are optional content. You don’t have to install them. They’ve always been distributed as free updates in the marketplace that you have to opt into. A bit awkward, but I get why they do it that way. Not everyone wants to use up gigs of their drive on places they never fly.
In any case, glad that you’re sorted out and enjoying the new update.
