Why does my terrain look so generic and low quality compared to others?

Brief description of the issue: I have the December update installed and was flying in Ultra mode for the below screenshots. Compared to this video which shows the same location (Lake District in the UK), my scenery looks extremely generic.

Provide Screenshot(s)/video(s) of the issue encountered:

Detail steps to reproduce the issue encountered: Start FS in Ultra near Lake District and fly to Scafell Pike, scenery looks generic and low quality.

Make sure you have Bing maps data turned on. It looks like it’s off to me in your screenshots.

I had to Google Lake District because I had no idea where this area is.

Anyway, I couldn’t reproduce screenshots on Ultra settings because my Specs are quite low.
I did make some screenshots of the area (I think) you requested.

This is what I see:

Ps: And, like the others said, make sure your Internet / Data options are activated

This is offline mode. Check your internet connection and Bing data option.

Thanks a lot, it was a simple fix in Data settings, no idea how I ended up disabling it.

Thanks again, this is insanely beautiful now!

I have found that every time there’s a mandated update, I must reset all my GFX card settings.

no idea how I ended up disabling it.

Most likely, you didn´t.

Sometimes, if your internet service provider has a problem and you bandwith becomes too low for the sim, you get briefly the message “low bandwith, going to offline mode” or something like that. Its brief and clears itself, so, if you are not looking at it, you may not know it happened.

It happened to me several times before with my previous ISP, and like you, was puzzled because my FS2020 suddenly looked FSX-like.

As explained by @cptpies just tuning on Bing maps again solves the problem.
