I went to check my library of content after the new beta update and I saw “update available” in yellow so I then downloaded everything again but all the updated packs were a similar size to the original size. I thought that the updated pack was the original pack with extra things but when I looked at my storage it said I had used 800 GB, 50 for base game and 750 for the original and updated pack when it had only used 325 GB before. Installed everything, except for the 10 items that the installation failed on and still 800GB. Should I delete all my packs and redownload from scratch or will that just do the same thing?
Also, on Xbox X what is “Reserved space” It had grown to 100’s of GB so it is related to the installed data?
Hi @iN8InItYz,
Do you mind providing some screenshots if at all possible of how this is presenting to you? This may be useful for us to take a look to see if this may need to be filed as a potential bug.
Thanks

The reserved data on Xbox is where the rolling cache is stored. However I find that whenever you change it in sim the reserved pace just grows and never returns the storage space back.
This happened to me on PC.
Downloaded the entirety of MSFS2024 content, the size on disk was double the amount, so total installation would’ve been 350Gigs but like you said it doubles so it had taken around 800Gigs until it finished installing all the downloaded content, then it deleted the extra 350 Gigs.
From what im guessing is that its downloading the content as a compressed file and then unpacking it on to the drive which is why you’re noticing double the size.

Exactly. In effect, until the installation is finished, you have two copies of the sim on your device.
The compressed or “zipped” files, and the unpacked usable files.
Is it a good idea to delete reserved space or would that delete other in-game data? Additionally, should I just delete the installed packs and re-install them or would that not do anything?
Please help!
That’s what I was thinking but then after installation finished I closed and reopened the game but the storage was still 800GB, maybe i’ll try a power cycle next
No, reinstalling would only duplicate what has occurred.
I’ve read that setting the rolling cache size to 1 will delete the cache, and after another start you could set it to the correct value.
Deleting reserved space does this, but it will reset everything to original:
Warning: Deleting your cloud save will permanently erase your logbook along with any custom control profiles and settings. While achievements already unlocked on this profile will remain intact, any progress towards achievements and logbook data cannot be restored.
Every time I try reducing the rolling cache to clear it and then reset to the amount I want, it just adds to the space that was originally set. For example I had 64gb rc, reduced to 1gb then changed back to 64gb. I then checked Xbox storage and it had 129gb for reserved space. Tried power cycling Xbox multiple times, booting up sim and closing it multiple times and the reserved space does not decrease back to 64gb so I have to delete the reserved space from within my games and apps in order to return the storage.
If you delete reserved space you lose- custom camera views, individual throttle calibration settings for planes, and only native 2024 addon content is automatically enabled in my library. Most 2020 content that is compatible in 2024 is also disabled by default so you have to go and re-enable what you want. It also goes for any default airports you may of disabled will automatically be re-enabled by default upon deleting reserved space. Then in settings the sliders are all reset to default as well as multiplayer, traffic and weather settings all back to default. You keep any key bindings you have set thankfully.

I think I may have found a solution/workaround
- Delete all the reserve space
- Power cycle Xbox
- Login back in and you will see all installed content will have just moved to streamed content
- Download and install everything again
It is still a glitch since the rolling cache doesn’t reset and delete itself
