Hi,
Again, I try to go for a flight, and again MSFS wants to download mpore that 100 gig meaning 5 or 6 hours of downloading… I’ve already installed update 3 … what could be wrong… I just wanted to go for a quick fly,
I’m struggling to every get to use this thing as I cannot devote 8 hours to get it going for a half hour flight.
Should I unistall and reinstall or what? I’ve tried resetting etc (the reccommended procedures for installation problems) and they work until I want to go for a flight a week later.
Sounds like a file is being altered.
There was a bug patch after the 3 world update, is that what your getting, or have you already gotten that.
The thing about the bug patch unfortunately is that is mad ALOT of peoples game start stuttering making the game all but useless…
Try to reduce your download speed. Some people have problems with too fast internet connections. Sound like a yoke but it is what it is…cheers
Hope you didn’t click on ‘verify game files’ in steam. This will only verify the installer, and reset all the content that is downloaded through the game client (which is almost everything).
Hi @BubbaBlitz7348 ,
Maybe thats it? 154 gig seems a lot for a patch but I’ve just started the download again.
One thing for sure - MSFS is keeping internet providers busy - I reckon I’m using at least an extra half terabyte of data per month just trying to keep this going.
Thanks

Hi @CPTRoth
That is crazy but not surprising! I wouldn’t know how to lower my internet speed, nor will I do it for MSFS!
Thanks

Hi @MortThe2nd
I’m not using Steam so didnt do that.

Hi @GameBlogger3710
Sounds like EVERY file is being altered!
Thanks

Did you by chance move your community folder and all its subfolders to a different location from the default?
Just an idea. Try the move msfs 2020 via the Windows settings → Apps → msfs 2020 → Move app
If that not succeed, think the installation is broken. Therefor msfs 2020 is trying to install again…
You don´t have to do this permanently but another user from GB had the same problem: files are downloading and at a certain percentage, the same file starts again. Looks like MS is wrapping the files for dl maybe? She uses her bluetooth now just for the downloads then switches back to highspeed.
I’ve read all the responses to your query and no one has mentioned a problem I encountered. I first loaded MSFS to my c:\ drive then got an external SSD and reinstalled MSFS to that new d:\ drive. Everything was fine for awhile then there was a big update and MSFS wanted to reload everything - the entire ~150 Gb.
In searching around, I discovered that the download path MSFS was still using was the one for the c:\ drive which was now empty cause I had moved everything to the d:\ drive so it wanted to reload.
I had to modify the usercfg.opt file to have MSFS look on my d:\ drive. You can search for the usercfg.opt file and check to see if it is pointed to the right directory. My usercfg.opt file is located at:
c:\user\u2jim\appdata\roaming\microsoft flight simulator. Open MSF and the usercfg.opt is the last file listed. My install is on Steam so the path may be different if your install is Microsoft Windows.
Hope this helps.
I clicked on desktop msfs today and it wants to reload Msfs wants to reinstall on a different drive because it’s empty but my msfs is on the C drive with about 400 gb open. I don’t want to reinstall at all…what the heck is going on with Steam. It says disk space required is 1.08 GB and will take 1 minute…I don’t get it
