I was wondering why there isn’t cloud gaming for Microsoft flight simulator the UWP should allow a developer to not have any trouble? I am a little confused. (I apologize if this was discussed I couldn’t find anything like it in suggestions)
What is “Cloud Gaming”?
Edit: So, I looked it up. What do you mean it doesn’t support it? It doesn’t support Multiplayer mode? It has been said if you purchased from the store, you own the XBox version, too, and you can share (most?) of your marketplace purchases across your devices.
What is it that it’s not doing, and what is your source for this information?
XCloud was mentioned as a way to make the sim ‘run’ on an XBox One.
Might be due to the sim already streaming gb’s of data to the sim as you fly. Imagine there would be high latency when streaming the game as well as the data the sim downloads as you fly.
Tried Cloud Gaming on a racing simulator game before… I unsubsribed and delete the app after the first 5 minutes… It was horrible…
Xbox cloud gaming its included with Xbox game pass ultimate. It has been in beta for selected gamepass ultimate members. Just came out today for all members. It runs on the Azure cloud infrastructure. The same infrastructure that runs flight simulators. I think you are looking in the wrong place I look at the Xbox blog. I play it all the time but I noticed flight simulator isn’t on there
yeah it was probably because the hardware was horrible they used to use xbox one s consoles but today they announced that in 22 countries they now have series x hardware. This is why I was wondering I guess a LOT of people didnt know this. I apologize.
fair point people might not be that close to a datacenter yet I could see why now it makes sense.
Maybe it was different, the only time I tried cloud gaming was using the cloud PC. Not Xbox. They create a cloud VM for me to load Steam and install the game there. Then I just stream everything.
My experience was that too much lag, on a racing simulator, I always brake at the wrong time, I turn at the wrong time and just keeps crashing my car. That’s why I couldn’t bring myself to continue doing it.
For MSFS, I guess it still depends on the lag. While flight simming might not need as much responsiveness as an FPS or racing game. But it’s still important as well. without streaming, a stutter can throw off timing especially on approach and landing. And while this is a different issue, it can be comparable as well, if you have input lag from the cloud streaming, it can throw off your timing with your controls as well.
But yeah, I dunno… I tried cloud gaming back in 2018, so I’m not sure if that’s different now.
I’m also accesing from Australia. We’re pretty much far from everywhere. so the Ping tends to be very high to begin with.
ohhhhh i understand I didn’t read racing simulator yeah racing sims aren’t really good for cloud and yeah might give it a go again on ultimate 2 more days until you can’t get 3 months for a dollar
The story I readwas a story about the release of Cloud Gaming on XBox on the XBox blog. I’m not an XBox user, so I didn’t understand your question. All that you said was that there won’t be cloud gaming for MSFS. In the story I read on the blog that they were releasing it (XBox cloud gaming), it didn’t say anything about MSFS. So I’m wondering, what functionality are you saying isn’t going to work?
As I said, I’m not an XBox user, so your question is cryptic to me. Of all the features listed in the blog post, it seems like MSFS supports it? But I don’t know, that’s why I asked you to clarify your question.
The sim could realistically be running on a server on the same backbone as the MSFS content servers. In any case, I’d expect that the connection from the sim on its server to the data would be faster than anything us mere mortals have available at our disposal for home internet.
As the client, you’re basically just receiving a video stream of the remote system where the sim is running. Nothing is being rendered or processed on your computer other than the input signals you’re sending via your controller(s). There, however, there can definitely be latency. But for a game that isn’t high action / high speed, I doubt that would be a big issue.
Oh, I get it. Well, it’s not released on Xbox yet. My bet is it will be upon release. Just because it COULD be available on cloud, they’ll most likely wait till Xbox is released for marketing reasons.
Ohhhh I getchu I didnt understand I might have worded it WAY BADLY i apologize thank you for your input I appreciate it!
yeah There is no reason they couldnt do it if ya know what I mean would be pretty easy tbh.
You may have just described the one model that would make MSFS2020 actually work as a flawless experience…
Microsoft confirmed earlier this month that Flight Sim would be made available for Xbox One owners (and also on phones and tablets) via their Xbox Cloud Gaming Service.
Here is the quote from their press release.
For the millions of people who play on Xbox One consoles today, we are looking forward to sharing more about how we will bring many of these next-gen games, such as Microsoft Flight Simulator , to your console through Xbox Cloud Gaming, just like we do with mobile devices, tablets, and browsers.
As Xbox Cloud Gaming now runs on Xbox Series X hardware, I’d expect it to be available via the Cloud around or possibly sometime after the Xbox Series X/S version is released.
You make a very good point I guess it all comes down to how good a persons internet connection is.
Looks like you read Asobo’s mind apparently they are working on an Xcloud version for streaming down to Xbox one as said above. They haven’t set a release date for it yet though.
