Why two different distances to destination?

I’m seeing conflicting distances on the blue/white markers showing flight direction to the selected airport. Often, the arrows are wrong as well.
I haven’t learned to use NAV radios and beacons, which I know will help me a great deal, but i need practice landing first.

Thanks for your help
Ethan

My 1st thought are that “Flight Plan Distance” may well be a longer distance that a “Direct to” distance .

Also the heading to the next WP on the FP, is probably not the same heading as a Direct to Destination Airport heading.

Thanks for the help.
Sometimes though, the distances differ by more than 50 miles. I also notice the arrows pointing differently.
I tried to take a screeny, but I must have got the key combo or button wrong. I have a Logitech/Saitek throttle quad and a Honeycomb Alpha yoke. Some of the buttons aren’t set up yet. I’ve had 100 hours of play time in MSFS, but haven’t studied the controls and have only begun the lessons.
I have been so mesmerized by the stunning graphics that I often just fly around looking at the scenery instead of actually learning to fly. My bad.

Are you loading any departures or arrivals into your flight plan?

Sometimes the GPS/FMS will put what is considered a vector onto one end of the flight plan and, not knowing how long it will be may be extended out into the distance as a placeholder.

That will often result in disparities in your direct distance vs your flight plan distance.

Definitely need a screenshot of your nav display and flight plan (FPL) page to see what’s going on. That’s assuming this is a G1000NXi, but for all we know it could be anything else.

Yes, I have loaded departure and arrivals.
I wasn’t sure how to grab a screenshot, so I Googled, but the key combo I used - I think it was Ctrl-Shift-S didn’t work, but I have taken screenies in the past.
I could also pause the sim, then use Snagit.
