Wide Screen / Ultra wide screen monitor settings ? ( Sim looks blurry and textures do not look crisp)

I just traded in my Dell ultrasharp 27 inch monitor for a Samsung 43 " curved, wide screen monitor.
But i have to say im kind of dissappointed, as the wide screen field of view is amazing, but even at 3840 x1200 resolution, the sim textures look slightly blurry/ not crisp.

The textures look duller, the fine numbers in the cockpit G1000 panels are harder to read.

Anyone else have this issue ? I am posting some screenshots here. If you enlarge, you will see what i mean .

I dont know if it is a Samsung issue ? As another user with a new Samsung monitor noticed this same issue.

The LAST three screenshots are with my old 27 inch Dell monitor.

Lesser pixel density and bigger pixels on your new 43" are the cullprit. Your old screen seems to be a 4k display.

4.608.000pixel on the 43" Screen @ 3840x1020

vs

8.294.400 pixel on your old 27" Screen @3840x2160

If you want a similar “crisp” appearance you gonna have to look for one of the 49" Super Ultrawides that run on 5120 x 1440 Pixel resolution or you can try to up the Render Resolution in the Graphics Options. (give 150 a try)

Performance wise you should have enough head room to up on the render scaling since you halfed the amount of pixels your gpu has to feed by switching to the 43" compared to the old monitor.

I have a 49” ultra wide and everything looks crisp on my screen.

What brand monitor do you have ? can you tell me the specs and what resolution you are flying at ?

Thanks for your help. The weird thing is that i specially looked for a 4K wide screen monitor and paid $$$ for this one below.

Samsung C43J890 43.4" 4K-UXGA 120Hz HDMI DP Curved LED Monitor

max resolution 3840 x 1200 (which is what Im running FS2020 at)

“At 43” diagonal screen size and 32:10 aspect ratio, the CJ89 is equal to two 24" (16:10) monitors. With no bezel blind spots, perfectly matched image quality, and fewer cables it’s a smart alternative to dual monitor setups"

I’m running a Lenovo P44w-10 43" ultrawide at 3840x1200 and I haven’t been having any issues with fuzziness. I had some texture issues at one point but that was a display quality setting as opposed to something with the monitor. What’s your refresh rate at?

That’s some prime example of a misleading/bad item description by the vendor. Not even Samsung themselves market that screen as “4k”.

Also judging by the screenshots it looks like your render scaling in the sim is at less then 100, which will enhance the less crisp look substantially as well.

I have a 43" too, Samsung, running at 3840 x 1200.
My refresh rate is 60 hz, but it can go up to 100 or 120 Hz.

core i7-8700 with Nvidia 1080ti

I had to increase my render scaling to 120 (thanks to Ry4nFlint’s advice), and it has helped.

Thanks Ry4nFlint…increasing the Render Scaling and the refresh rate seemed to help without a hit on fps.

Sadly your new monitor has less PPI and larger dot pitch, so wont be as sharp as older one

Are there any ultra wide monitors that have 4K ? I cant seem to find any.

still within the 30 day return, lol, so i may try to get another one. But that ultra wide sure is nice!

My Monitor

Mine is an LG 2560x1080 29" display. This resolution is also considered ultrawide (UW-UXGA).
It’s cheap, not very big diagonally, hence my pixel density is quite good.

Also due to the relatively low pixel count I get very good performance on i5 9400F and 1660TI with 16 Gigs RAM.
I’m very happy with it.

I had the Samsung 43 inch ultra wide screen but was quite dissapointed in the resolution 3840 x 1200. FS2020 just did not seem sharp at all. I did love the amazing wide field of view though.
Pics from that below

Returned it and got a Dell ultrasharp 38 inch wide screen. Much sharper, crisp FS2020 gameplay. Not a gaming PC but for me it looks awesome . (pics below) But now i miss the wide field of view!

So looking at the 49 inch Dell Ultrasharp now. I would have preferred a 43 inch but dont want to get a Samsung again

I have the Samsung G9 49" 5120x1440 ultra sharp for sure, love the ultra wide screen, i went for that due to the 5120x1440 as used to the 3440x1440 of my old Acer pred and the new R1000 curve.
HDR1000, 240Hz and 1ms response
Its basically two 2560x1440 monitors in one screen, great for games and work

can you post screenshots ?

I tried the 43 inch samsung and was dissappointed , going from my old 24 inch 4K Dell. (3480x2160) . Returned it for a 38 inch Dell, much sharper ( 3480 x 1600), but i really miss the wider screen.

Just ordered a Lenovo Legion at 43 inches , 3480 x 1200 w 120 mhz response. Hoping thats better, sharper.

I run a Philips 499P9H1/75 49" Ultrawide Curved at 5120X1440 at 60hz though but i only have a 1070 and only get around 25ish FPS. But i still love it and to me seems nice and crisp. In NZ it was on the lower end price wise during a sale, could never go back to smaller now, for work too!

Running samsung 49" ultra wide at ultra resolution it looks mint will never go back to a smaller size :stuck_out_tongue:
