Will it still take 4 mins to get into the game?

I have a two Samsung SSD 980 Pro 1TB and they are extreem fast when i benchmark them.

You benchmark them with what?
A synthetic benchmark like AS SSD?
These tools are ok to compare SSD A to SSD B.

But I’ve never found one SSD that come close to the bench results in a real live environment.

You are trying to compare apples with pears!
XPlane11 loads 4 times faster on my system as MSFS does.
Why?
Because it is XPlane11, with all it’s drawbacks. That’s why.

Edit:
ACC is loading about 4 times faster than iRacing as well on my system.
And ACC is better than iRacing.
Just as a side note.

Same for me XP11 loads much faster then MSFS2020.
But that’s not important!
I don’t know why the loading time is so extreem long when loading a flight with a new aircraft in MSFS.

Can you specify the “new” AC?

From PMDG 737 to A32NX or the other way around.

You know that the 737 is a very complex plane, do you?
You also know that there are lot’s of variables?
You know that the A32NX is a very complex palne as well, do you?
You also know that there are lot’s of variables?

OK.
All this needs to go from the SSD into memory.
And then there are tons of calculations have to be done.
Lot’s of switches needs to be in the correct position.
Maybe some Navigation Data needs to be (pre)calculated.

Start a new flight with the old bird:
The values are still in memory.

Start a new flight with the new bird:
All starts from scratch.

Check your loading times with some simpler plane, like XCub and C152

I doubt they’re actually loaded, but every plane has to be scanned and registered to appear in the menu, as well as every scenery file so that it can be included (if applicable) in the World Map.

Of course i know that it are complex planes, but i am not expecting that the time to load will be so long. There must be a possibility to cache the preconfigured data when installing a aircraft in the program so that the program can grap it when it is needed.

Maybe preloading, calculating, ordening and configuring can be done during installation of the aircraft in the program.

This type of complaining is akin to when the (excellent) Boeing 247D came out.

People want the world, and then complain when you give it to them. Would it be nice if the sim loaded faster? Sure. Given the complexity of the whole thing though I think it is entirely reasonable.

Not a fair comparison between XP and MSFS load time when considering the additional data and detailed scenery MSFS has to display. Adding in orbx ortho to XP almost doubles the load time for me.

I’am not comparing.
I know that the first time i load a scenery there is a lot of data that has to be loaded and set in place.
It’s the second time that’s bouldering me.

I don’t understand why switching an airplane can’t be done quicker.

When i start a flight and load a new scenery and aircraft it takes a long time, Oké.
When flight is done and i close MSFS and the next time i start MSFS and do a flight in the same area with the same aircraft, the loading time is much quicker.
The data of the certain area and the aircraft are then apparently in a cache.

Now i ask myself would it be possible to hold a certain number of planes and area’s in a cache (first in first out), so that the loading time when switching between the most used planes is drastically shortened.

Uhh… I have no paid add-ons installed. Only two fighter jets… No paid scenery add-ons.

So, before I installed the fighter jets, it was around 4 mins. It’s still around 4 mins or just over 4 mins now. Same as before

In fact , throughout the last, 3-4 months e.g., this 4-min average load in time has stayed the same.

This comment is very relevant so why complain?

MSFS uses a virtual file system (VFS) for the entire module used.

Folder trees for use inside MSFS are prioritized and combined into a single virtual tree, providing both consistency in management and convenience in application development.
The time taken at startup is largely dependent on this part of the system. This is because json, xml, etc. inside Simobject are also converted to a tree at this point. The structure is created, not simply “loaded”.

The read speed is not highly dependent, and little improvement can be made with increased storage speeds.
(If you want to know which files are being read now at startup, you can probably observe it from Windows Resource Monitor->Disk Activity when the OS and MSFS are first started.)

Similar mechanisms are used in many moddable applications and are commonplace; MSFS is not the only one that is slow.

2m 40s to load MSFS on my Asus F15 laptop which has I7-11280, 16GB and a 1TB nvme SSD. Not much in community folder compared with what some people talk about here. Most of the time seemed to be ‘Checking for updates’. Faster than it used to be, seems reasonable to me.
